I reside in East Brunswick's Lexington Village, a townhouse community with rows of five attached homes. In 2021, I replaced my roof through a roofing company. My neighbor's house, which is attached to mine, had its roof replaced in May, of 2023 by John Asch Roofing Company. At the end of November, 2024, I noticed that there were squirrels in my attic. I contacted Anchor Pest Control to perform a removal of these squirrels. During their inspection, the representative took numerous photos and identified a significant issue: part of a plywood sheet was completely rotted, and the shingles above were unsupported, allowing wildlife access to my attic. Following this discovery, I called my roofer and an additional roofing contractor to evaluate the cause of the problem. Both roofers stated that the plywood rotting is resulted from improperly installed flashing, which was installed by John Asch Roofing Company at my neighbor’s. To prevent further damage, I hired my roofing company to repair the roof. Meanwhile, my neighbor contacted the owner of John Asch Roofing Company to discuss the issue. The owner of John Asch Roofing promised to visit on December 27, 2024, but failed to show up or reschedule an appointment. I called John Asch Roofing Company and spoke to the owner trying to address the matter. He was very rude and did not want to listen to what I had learned. I called his insurance broker at Robert P. Petri & Daughter Agency, to try initiate a claim. However, they informed me that only the business owner can initiate a claim under the Certificate of Liability Insurance provided to homeowners. This certificate merely verifies that the business has a policy; it cannot be used by homeowners to file claims directly. Based on my experience, John Asch Roofing Company appears to lack both professionalism and quality workmanship.

We needed to start from scratch & have the whole roof including plywood removed & all new installed. We had used John's company before so we knew they were honest & professional. They actually showed up 15 minutes early & immediately started work. It was really hot out but they never stopped except for lunch. By 4:30 it was complete. Later that same day they sent someone over to check that everything was done correctly. They never bothered us, just wanted to do an inspection. Roof looks great. I would highly recommend this company.

"The contract was signed by the home owner on 12/12/14. The owner said the roof was done on 12/30/14. It normally takes about 2 weeks to get a township building permit. Work can not be done without a permit. A permit can not be applied for with out a signed contract. If any one does the math, you can see that we started the roof job with in about 2 days after getting the permit. Owner said she got a low price & I am the only roofing company giving a 20 year labor & material guarantee. (not a warranty) I have the signed contract for any one who wants to see the dates. Sounds to me that I should have been given an A+ ,based on the facts. Sorry the owner seems confused."

Called before scheduled time to let us know they would be 2 hours late due to extreme cold weather. Makes sense since any type of roof sealing likely can't seal correctly in the extreme cold. After that arrived on time. After looking at the chimney, they found that the original solution offered would not work (was discussed via phone, no in-person inspection prior to work being done). Offered alternative solutions, and was able to perform work for not too much more than originally quoted. Fast and professional, I would recommend for future work.

"As the owner said in his own words. I offered to send down 2 men to go in the attic and check out his problem. He was not willing to spend a few dollars to pay for my men to go there. Since he did not want us to do it. I thought maybe he was tight for money and I would try to help him out with some free advice. He did not want to go in the attic, or pay me to do it, or take advice. Not much more i could do. I drove out there for free, using up my time and fuel. You cant make every one happy.........."

Was to install (2) rows of ice & water shield as per contract and luckily I took off from work to keep an eye on them, because they were only installing (1) row. The (1) row barely made it past the overhang, right were the ice-water transition would be. Also I had 40 year shingles installed and they installed plastic roof vents (not gable vents) and was informed by John Ash himself that the plastic will last longer. Oh and he also said he will be on the job while the work is being performed and he only did a drive by once. The workers do not speak english very well so when the ice & water shield was installed wrong the worker had to have me talk to John on the worker's cell so that John could explain to the worker what had to be done. You get what you pay for.

"I have the original contract from (Member name removed) that he and I signed. The contract was signed and the roof job done in 2009. (Member name removed) says 2012. (Member name removed) seems confused. The contract 100% does not call for 2 layers of ice and water shield. (Member name removed) lied. (Member name removed)mentioned I said: plastic roof vents are better. They are. I have installed over 30,000 of them so far with no problems. (Member name removed) told the truth there. (Member name removed) mentions "gable vents", the contract does not call for gable vents. (Member name removed) lied. I have had no contact with (Member name removed) since 2009. If any of this where true, why wait six (6) years to mention it? (Member name removed) said he got a 40 year roof. Contract says 50 year roof. (Member name removed) seems confused again. (Member name removed) mentions nothing about leaks. I am positive, if the roof leaked, (Member name removed) would have mentioned it. So the roof, finished 6 years ago, before hurricane sandy has never leaked, including during the hurricane. (Member name removed) in his Angies list report gave me a "B" for price. Never had a leak. Sounds like an additional recommendation for me. I will add it to my other 3,000. If any one would like, I can meet with them and show the contract for the roof that was done. I keep contracts to protect myself from people like (Member name removed). PS.. (Member name removed) you have a 15 year guarantee on your roof. On both labor and material. More then any other roofer. Your guarantee is still in effect. Good thing you chose me...... Your welcome (Member name removed).............."

John Asch, the owner, was so professional from the estimate to the actual day of the roofing work. He kept us informed on the changes due to weather and the time they would be arriving. On the day of the work, he called twice to give us updates and changes that had to be made. His crew did a super job and cleaned up before they left. On top of all this, another guy came on a Sunday to make sure our yard was indeed clean. They are a super super company and we just wish all contractors could be so great.

John Asch Roofing had originally replaced my roof this past summer.  I saw something that did not look normal on the roof last night, I called him and he came to my house today.  In my older home, there is tongue and groove boards under the shingles and some bent upwards.  They repaired the problem 1-2-3.  I can't believe the quick response and still that pleasant attitude from the company.  Thanks again.

From the first phone call to enquire about new roof shingles to the pick-up of the dumpster when the job was done resulted in a perfect job! They came the day they were scheduled and completed the job in one day. They left the yard spotless. The roof looks fabulous! If you want a worry-free contractor, John Asch is the right man!

I had been researching for a roofer. I had three companies come to my house and have an estimate done. I called these three based on personal references or web reviews. I hired John Asch roofing to do the job. When I first met John he had explained the job thoroughly. It did not bother him that he was explaining to a woman, especially since I probably know more about the ā€œconstructionā€ industry than my husband. That really should not matter, but to me it did, since others asked to speak to my husband. I had a total rip off of two layers of roof and wanted the detached garage done as well. John had called to schedule an estimate. He arrived promptly as he scheduled and he was very courteous to me. I hired John to do the roof job. We signed a contract and had an estimated date at the end of the month. I told him if he could do it earlier, the better, but this is always weather permitting. He called about 2 weeks before the date and stated he could get to me that week, which ended up being 10 days early. The company and people he has employed for him, I cannot say enough good things about them. Let me start with the day before, John called and told me to have driveway cleared for dumpster and materials. The person who delivered the dumpster and materials was great, tight fitting street, cars parked all over, he was so professional and a terrific driver. The next morning a crew of five (5) showed up to start. I was amazed at how fast and how hard these men work. They knocked this job off in a day, both the house and the detached garage. I really am so happy with the workmanship of it all. They did a wonder installation job, but an even better clean up job. As if that wasn’t good enough, John had a crew come later that night and fine tune the cleanup. Outstanding. The dumpster was also picked up that night. The next day you would not have known the amount of work that had been done. Back to normal. I will be recommending John Asch and company to everyone. From beginning to end form the Owner to the installers to the cleanup, a great bunch of workers. Hard workers. Thank you.

I contacted them based on a friend's recommendation.
John was communicative and came to assess the job. He was able to get us a quote quickly and left shingle samples for us to review. We checked a few contractors and he wasn't the least expensive however John seems to use a regular crew and his work was guaranteed.
We signed the contract and were on our way. The work went smoothly. The installers were neat and respectful. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

The cost included all the materials and labor. They also took the old roof down, cleaned it up, and took it off the property. They are excellent. Every aspect of it was so professional. The owner came about six months before when I was getting estimates. I had a number of estimates and he was just so different from the other roofers that I spoke with like the other big providers. I did not like them at all.

John was very punctual and professional throughout. The cedar roof on a home we had just purchased was badly installed and developed leaks. While a new roof will be needed in the near future, John's team did an excellent job repairing the existing leaks. After searching for a reputable cedar shake roofer for months, it was a pleasure to find John and his team. We will certainly use him to install a brand new roof soon.
