Extreme Team was the only one of four companies solicited for estimates to give a firm, guaranteed-not-to-rise price. Other companies told us that they weren't sure if the footing under out existing steps would be sufficient, and told us that the price might have to change if more work needed to be done to prepare the footing. Jerry was confident in his experience, and was pretty sure there was a footing under steps of a home our age -- he said that if he was wrong, he would do the work necessary without raising the price mid-job. He did wind up pouring some concrete under the new cinder block core, and true to his word, the price stayed the same.
We were provided with physical brick samples as well as an album of his work prior to the beginning of the job.
I was impressed with small-but-important details of the work. One of the best was that the concrete top of the steps has a slight grade away from the house to help shed water and snow. The limestone treads are level and flush with the rest of the structure. Jerry also added trim around the no-longer-flush edges of the siding that had been against the old steps, so there are no unsightly gaps.
The work began less than 1 week after we selected this company, and was finished in under 4 days.
