DOUBLE R HOME IMPROVEMENTS

There were several issues but the end result was a beautiful addition to our house. I wish it had been a little smoother. The actual work was very good. I would just be very up front about what is included and what is not. The four page contract was just not detailed enough. We paid for construction drawings before the project started but they weren't really complete. We were assured this would not be an issue since we used the service suggested to us by Double R. There were problems due to the drawings not being completed. Three items in particular; 1) A staircase was removed and "flipped" and the new stairs (new code) would not fit in the same place so we had to rearrange the upstairs to accommodate, 2) The closet wasn't drawn into the bedroom that was extended in the addition. When the closet was put in, it became obvious the bedroom wasn't wide enough to fit the bed (a queen - not king). We had to move a wall (that was already studded out) and take space out of the kitchen to get a bedroom that was wide enough. A header had to be put in since the wall was loadbearing. This, of course, cost more money. And 3) the kitchen appliances weren't drawn in the drawings. We asked for the sink and stove (Viking 48') to be put on specific walls and repeatedly asked if the space above the stove would work to accommodate the large fan needed for the stove. When the kitchen started getting "plumbed" for gas and water we realized they were on the wrong walls. We ended up having to ditch the fan we had paid for (expensive) and go with a fan that could be put in the attic above the kitchen. The work took longer than was originally estimated. This wouldn't have been a big problem except we were living in 2 rooms and a bathroom for the entire remodel with no kitchen. I understand that projects can be affected by weather and other unpredictable events but I felt feet were being dragged on our project. Again, the quality of the work was very good and was provided by employees of Double R. The owner of Double R did not work on the house directly.

They are very good. They went above and beyond. I have no complaints what so ever.

We hired them for the above mentioned work because they did a complete upstairs addition for us a couple of years ago and we were impressed with how quickly, professionally and perfectly the job went. Very easy to talk to, described everything in detail so I could understand it and their contracts were easy to understand. Got a lot of compliments on our new front porch. We would recommend them highly. They also clean up after themselves every night!!

They have done other works for me in the past. They were terrific. They showed up on time. Their prices were competitive. They cleaned up after themselves. They called me when they were late. They came out and did the work. The porch looks beautiful. I can?t say enough good things about them. They really knew what they were doing. They arranged to have the mason come out and build the steps and the decks. They put the roof over the porch. They also put the posts and the railing. They don?t advertise. You can?t find them in the phonebook. They work through word of mouth. The porch cost me $4400, excluding the mason?s charges. They weren?t the cheapest, but they weren?t the most expensive, either. I got what I paid for. They broke the cost down for me. They brought the materials, if the materials weren?t delivered. I didn?t have to go around for the materials. Their responsiveness was unbelievable. I will definitely use them again in the future. In fact, I am currently looking around the house for some work for them to do.

When they did the addition, they were done in 6 weeks. They do quality work. Everybody that did the work, was pleasant, cordial, spoke English and was nice. It was a nice experience. I trusted them. I spent around $50000 during that time. They were very upfront about the additional charges. They were great to work with them. I believe that everybody should have an experience working with them. They were terrific. I will definitely use them again.

He is easy to talk to and really listens to what you want to do. He is honest and does high quality work. He is having to redo a lot of work and has been great to work with. I would recommend him to anyone.
