geo's roofing and construction

We received an estimate from Geo's and two other firms; the value for the price was superior for Geo's. We worked mostly with Alex. He and Geo showed us a book of work that had been done in the past including building homes from the ground up. We asked for their license and liability insurance and were shown the originals which we copied. We asked for a reference and that individual contacted us and gave us a very favorable report, so we were ready to go. Alex took care of getting all the permits from the town. He estimated it would take about 4 days from start to finish; we only had the site fully active for 2 days with only wrapup the following day, which was great. We were delighted with how the roofing was done in sections, and did not have to endure overnight tarps on the house nor were we vulnerable to possible weather situations since the house was sealed every night. There were instances where more work was suggested as they were finding things, and we were consulted each time. We were told about the 4 pieces of plywood needing replacement, which was done at the agreed price in case that was needed; also we were shown the broken attic fan housings and given the choice to replace the fans, which we chose to do at a reasonable extra cost. We were told that a wooden box that houses the fireplace and furnace chimneys was in poor shape; we agreed, and the crew custom-built an identical new box and painted it with the same color as the old one with paint we were asked to supply (we had extra). This was very well done and we are sure it is better than the original. Overall, the work was extremely neat, quick, and professional, and the cleanup was thorough and prompt. There were only two minor issues - the first was that Alex asked us to provide cash payment for the final payment to pay his crew; we had not expected that upfront and had to negotiate since we only had limited cash funds immediately available. Our first payment was by check and that was no issue, though the work wasn't set up until the check cleared. The second issue was that I asked about the attic fan electrical hookups, and was told that they Geo's isn't licensed for electric, but that Geo had a friend who was an electrician who he'd call -- I didn't get a follow-up on that. Again we were extremely satisfied and would not hesitate to call Geo's for any future home repairs and improvements.
