"Client was told prior to start that the walls may need to be skim coated depending on the condition once the wallpaper was removed. Once the job was started we determined that there was 4 layers of wallpaper in the bathroom and one layer in the downstairs and upstairs hallway. There was also glue residue left on the wall. There were many spots on the walls that were in rough condition. I recommended having the walls skim coated prior to painting it. The client did not want to pay to have someone skim coat the walls from floor to ceiling. Instead, I sanded and spackled some of the more noticeable areas. I explained that the walls would not be perfect and she was fine with that. Once half of the job was painted the client was fine with how the walls looked but she was not happy with the color and thought that I used wrong paint color. The chosen color was "Agreeable Grey", a Shermin Williams color, my paint supplier did an exact match with Benjamin Moore paint. She was very upset so I gave her the address and number to my paint supplier, she went to the paint store where they confirmed that I did use "agreeable grey." She still did not believe it was the right color. When I moved on to complete the stairway and bathroom painting, she said she wasn't happy with the work. I suggested that she might want to get another painter to finish the painting and I would not collect the remaining balance so that she could pay to have it done. She was agreeable to this. In regard to the time frame: The client requested that I start after 10am, so I had to go to her job in the second half of my work day and split the day with another client, we start at 8 AM. This only allowed for approx 3-4 work hours including prepping the area and cleaning up. Adding to this, the process of scrapping multiple layers of wallpaper was extremely time consuming. Also, spackling and sanding multiple coats needs to be done over several days so the spackle can dry, all of this was explained to the customer."
