Most auto dealers are reluctant or may refuse to install after-market parts.  For this reason, I searched for an independent auto maintenance facility.  I found Marty's in the Mechanics Files of www.cartalk.com.  I have had extensive work performed on my Miata and this is the second time I have been to Marty's.  The first time (09/04/07) they installed an after-market down-pipe, catalytic converter, and intake kit.  I was very happy with the results so I went back to Marty's for the installation of an after-market mid-pipe and muffler.  A big plus, in my case, is that Marty's is within walking distance of my home.  It's very convenient.

My experience with them was bad. We felt that they were deceptive. We felt that they wanted work to be done that didn't need to be done. We took my wife's car over to do some brakes and they ended up doing a lot of other things. Basically, they did work that had recently been done and didn't need to be done and they charged us for it. The thing that really set us off was that they charged the air conditioner and then they said she needed a new compressor. Then they tried to recharge us for the air in June. We trusted them a couple of times but at the end we caught them in an outright lie.

Started by taking people to lunch and we came out to a car that would not start. I called Marty's and they had a flat bed there in 15 minutes!With no appointment they were still able to accomidate and I was back on the road in less that 2 hours!Thanks guys. :)
