The tech arrived on time and spent about fifteen minutes with the washing machine. He told us that the problem was the main computer board in the washing machine. He said he wasn't sure but he thought the part cost about $500.00. He then looked it up on his computer and corrected it to $400.00. He said we would be better off buying a new washing machine, one without a computer. That sounded like a reasonable recommendation and we paid the agreed upon amount and he left.
Later I went to my computer to look for the part myself and found it for $140.00 delivered. Then I looked around and found a video showing how to replace it. It looked dead easy (and I am not generally a diy guy) so I ordered the part and installed it (it would have taken an experienced person 15 minutes - it took me 45). The washing machine worked fine.
I am a little puzzled as to why the tech did this (he surely knew the real price of the part). I basically think that he figured that $99.95 was likely 90% of what he would realize from this call even if he did the repair which would mean another trip, so he elected to take the money and run.
I suspect that this company is basically the "Uber" of appliance repair and that none of these people are employees. It is simply the luck of the draw as to what tech you get.
I am reasonably happy with the ultimate outcome, but I don't think I will do business with them again.

I know why Astre Appliance is so available and can be at your home the very next day. Their prices are INSANE.

THEY SHOWED UP WHEN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO. THEY CAME IN AND DID WHAT THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO DO, AND THEY DID IT QUICKLY. THEY WERE VERY PLEASANT AND RELIABLE. THE PRICE WAS FAIR AS WELL.

THE EXPERIENCE WAS DELIGHTFUL. WE HAVE USED THEM FOR FIFTEEN YEARS, SO YOU KNOW THAT THEY ARE DEPENDABLE. THEY ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO FIX THINGS THE FIRST TIME. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE.
