 + -1 moreIt was a slow start, but once the job got going, it was amazing to see the process. Neil & his son, Ian, were GREAT! They DO take their time ... at first I was a bit frustrated with that. But I realized that these guys take their time and DO THE JOB RIGHT, the first time. The "faux" stone on my chimney looks SO REAL because of their expertise. I also got a kick out of the watching the father & son team work with one another. They're lots of fun to talk to, as well. My husband and I are very happy with the outcome. PS I received 5 quotes for this job & ended up chosing Neil, not because his price was low (it wasn't) but because he seemed to have the most experience & was very thorough of his assessment of the work that needed to be done. I felt that that I could not afford to have a mason do a lousy job on our chimneys ... I wanted it done once and I wanted it done right. We definitely picked the right mason.
Description of Work: Stone faced (2) outside chimneys with Eldorado stone.

 + 0 moreIt went better than we could have hoped for - we are so excited about having a fireplace to cozy up to now. Neil was great through the bid process. I interviewed no less than 7 different contractors for the job and Neil was by far the most professional, most knowledgeable and easily the nicest guy. Once they started Neil and his son Ian were very accommodating of my wife, myself and our 3 dogs. They never complained, even when working on the chimney in the attic on some of the hottest days in decades (110*+). I decided i wanted to build my own mantel and they even gave me a ton of suggestions and worked my plan into their design to make sure it would be easy for me to do what i wanted to do.
Description of Work: Neil and his son Ian provided end to end design, installation and finish on a new fireplace in my living room. This was a "from scratch" project as I did not have an existing fireplace that they just needed to clean up. Ian worked up a design for a zero clearance fireplace the allowed it to be positioned as the central focal point of our living room without having to perform major demo and construction that would have been required had we chosen an all masonry fireplace. Once designed, Neil and Ian worked with the local inspector to make sure that everything they were doing was within code and was to his satisfaction. After installation Ian and Neil finished off the fireplace beautifully with stone and even making artistic suggestions to enhance the overall appearance and functionality.
