My SUV needed new tires. I took it to a local tire dealer who replaced the four tires and told me that my tie rods need service. So I took the car to Jafstram, reading good reviews in Angie's list. I did not hear from them, so I called in the afternoon and they said I need new tie rods as well as lower ball joints and the cost for parts and labor is $900 +tax etc. I talked to the mechanic about the repair. He said it will be $540 for parts and $360 for labor. He also told me that parts would be aftermarket or used parts not Mercedes parts. So I asked him whether I can get actual Mercedes parts and they do the repair and he said that is OK. I also asked if it will be possible to replace two front shocks and he said it will be few dollars more. So I got the all the parts from a dealer and gave to them. I normally get a call with estimate. After not getting a call for two days, I called and they said the car is ready. When my wife and I went to pick up the car the labor cost went from $360 to $979. I asked them what happened? First Brian, then owner Jon got very angry and said you brought your own parts, do you know I lost 20%. So I told hm that Brian told me it will be OK. He said it is not OK. Then he went on a rant that it is an old car; there were a lot of problem, it took a lot of hours etc. etc. but the price did not make sense for two ball joints, two tie rods and two shocks. In any event, they did not call me and gave me an estimate before doing the repair. I am not sure the ball joints needed to be replaced as the tire installer asked to replace the two tie rods and front end alignment and gave me an estimate of $300. There is a very good chance that ball joints were not needed and they did not plan on changing those, just charge me several hundred dollars. These are truly dishonest mechanics and do unnecessary repairs and take advantage of customers.

Replaced clutch on a rare AWD volvo which several other shops refused to touch. Cost much less than the dealer quoted and went perfectly.

They provide excellent service for foreign cars especially BMW's may it be upper end or regular. They will not charge me if they can do something and do it without replacing any part of it; if they could then they would go through this but the dealer won't. They use quality parts and provide very good quality work. That is the best that I have found other than the dealer for my BMW.

I have taken several cars to him over the years. His pricing always seems to be fair too. It is not the cheapest, but he seems to be fair. One problem I had with the car was that it was misdiagnosed. I thought it was one thing and he thought it was something else. I went with his decision and we found out that my diagnosis was accurate and his was not, so he just wound up charging me for the part. That was nice. On top of it he knew that that part was going to be failing soon, it was a CD joint. I knew it was going and I could have got more time out of it so he said, and ldquo;how about this, I will charge you for the part and won't charge you for the laborand rdquo;. I was fine with that. I just got an estimate to have a rear wheel sealed on my car from him and from somebody else and he was a little bit more; may be a $35 to $100 more but I would still go with him because I have a good experience with him. He has always done it when he said he was going to do it. I have always had the car back in time.

It is good; I like it and they are fair. Whatever they tell you they are going to do they fix and the price stays there; so they are pretty reasonable. I will use them again in the future.

He's excellent and very accurate in pinpointing the problem. The results are excellent on all the repairs we've taken to him. I will continue to use him in the future.
