It is evident that she is extremely knowledgeable and we found out she is also a lecturer at a local university. We struck gold with Rima (refreshing after all the dirt in the house) because she went beyond to couple her skill with very clear communication and amazing customer service. My partner and I felt that Rima really cared about what was happening to us, the impact on our toddler twins etc. I would highly recommend Rima Taher and Taher Engineering.
Working with Rima Taher was the best experience. She came, she went through everything, and she found what the issue was. Her diagnosis was since confirmed by professional construction builders. I couldn't have been happier and have been telling everyone I know about her.
"Following the inspection in question, I gave the client a letter explaining that a repair work was needed which would normally require us to draw some structural plans to be submitted to the building department in the town in order to get a permit for the construction work. Preparing these plans requires some calculations and some drafting work that was not included in the initial inspection, as I clearly explained to the client both in person and in writing. The inspection was to determine the problem which I did and to suggest the way forward. The way forward was to prepare drawings for the structural repairs to be done. I told the client that I was prepared to proceed with the work of preparing the drawings, which is a separate job that required a substantial amount of work which cannot possibly be included in the $200 fee for the preliminary inspection. I suppose the client wanted that work to be done with a much smaller fee which I was not prepared to accept considering the amount of work I had to put into this job and the drawings. In the inspection, we do not give out the specifics that are needed to fix structural problems such as new beam sizes and so forth unless we are hired to do the job which should be obvious. Did the client expect me to give him the design specifics without hiring me for the job?! His comments seems to indicate just that which would be unacceptable to any structural engineer or design professional."
I was lucky enough to find Taher Engineering in the local phone directory (!!!). I checked Dr. Taher's background and qualifications; they are impeccable. I contacted the firm and asked if they would take the job; they did.
Dr. Taher was prompt, courteous, and very, very thorough. She spent a great deal of time with us both in-person and on several telephone calls, explaining what she was looking for and what she had found during the course of the inspection. Dr. Taher went out of her way to contact several colleagues to consult with on her findings; provided me with their opinions and contact information; and when all was said and done supplied us with a full report that detailed the results of her inspection.
There are situations where a and quot;home inspectorand quot; simply doesn't have the training necessary to identify potential structural problems: A structural engineer is required and there are almost none in my area willing to work with individual homeowners. I was very lucky to find Taher Engineering; I am pleased to be able to recommend the firm without hesitation!
"Thank you very much for this good review."
