GEM ELECTRICAL CONTRACTING LLC

The owner, Jose broke the hood to our pellet fireplace and we still have nothing from him. Our brand new $1000 light was chipped in the corner, but I can't prove that they did it so I have to deal with it. I requested dimmers and when I found out that he didn't put them in for the main kitchen area, he told me that I didn't request it and it was too late because the wiring wasn't done for dimmers. Later, I found out that all you needed was a dimmer plate. Also, he told me that I had to get only line voltage lighting for my pendant lights. I didn't understand this, especially pretty much every lighting store I went to, mostly sold low-voltage pendants. Every other electrician or lighting store I went to said that it was no extra effort to install the transformers for the low-voltage lighting. However, Jose insisted that it would require a change order and more money. Overall, the work was done, but in the end, he had an issue with us and refused to come back to address the rest of them. I don't know what his issue is/was so the contractor ended up finishing the work.

Jose and his team was great. The initial proposal process was very professional and fast, unlike other contractors whom I contacted for this bid. He was honest and advised I would have to wait a few weeks because he was a little backlogged, but out of the 3 proposals I felt most comfortable with his because he was a local contractor who was very down to earth and upfront about everything. After a few days I called to schedule a time and date with Jose, and today was that day. His team arrived in the morning as scheduled, and Jose arrived shortly thereafter. All work was performed professionally, quickly and efficiently. Workers even cleaned up all the messes that were created throughout the day. There was even a problem with something that was originally proposed that required more work than anticipated, but he took care of it anyway with no extra charge. I would definitely hire GEM Electrical again in the future.
