We were satisfied with the sanding, staining, and the poly process, and appreciate that John came to the house on one of the days to inspect and address an issue with additional board replacement - the unfortunate unsatisfactory work we weren't quite happy with was:
1. They unknowingly turned on the fan a/c in the house which then transferred the smell of the poly and dust into all the rooms that were sealed off and originally uncontaminated.
2. The team who were responsible to replace and fill any holes or damages on the salvageable boards, didn't do so. If there were more than a few, we were quite willing and happy to replace or make additional payments to have this done, but no one including the team leaders came forward to bring up and discuss the issue. We were slightly disappointed because the rest of the house looks beautiful, but as you walk around you can catch a couple of boards that were neglected and left with slight dips that were never filled.
3. Additionally, we decided to proceed the work with dust instead of dustless, which we were informed quite popular and not as bad as people think, especially when you're not staying in the house for the week. However, I wish we were informed that all the walls would be covered with dust in which we would have to wipe and clean upon completion.
Other than that, I am very happy with the payment schedule and options available. John was always reachable via the office and his cell phone, and promptly returned my calls and answer any concerns when I call or email him. Additionally, without asking, he has always emailed me with updates, and daily schedules of the work. This was very much appreciated as we had to leave our spare keys to the house with them as we were unable to enter our house throughout the whole week while work was being done.
John seemed like a very experienced and professional business man, but as I said, it's a shame that one or two of his men lacked the passion and care for the quality of the work.
The workers were professional, thorough and did their best to contain the dust.
They hung a large tarp at the bottom of my staircase to close off the living room to reduce the spread of dust.
The floors look amazing!
Last month, we called to have the remaining 2 bed rooms completed with the expectation that there would be no problems especially since they had completed the other rooms and we just wanted the exact process repeated for these 2 rooms. Two workers came as promised on October 29 and performed the work, for which we paid them in full.
When the floors dried, they were nothing at all like the other rooms. They had a completely different finish. I called them and they came out again a few days later and again applied the polyurethane. Once again, upon drying, the finish was still dull (satiny) where my other floors were semi-gloss at best.
We did not know what to do and called again. I practically had to plead for them to come and see what I was talking about instead of thinking we were just being overly-picky. They came again and the worker named "Nathan" said "Oh, my you are right, this is a totally different finish".. Again went through the process, and NOW I have 2 floors that are so shiny, I could almost see my reflection in them!! Needless to say, my husband and I called and left messages at least three times, I emailed Mr. BLesing, and a Mr. Dan Blesing that had provide the quote, I spoke to "Joanne" the receptionist and we were told there was nothing they can do. My husband tipped the workers each time they came although it was no fault of ours.. Upon leaving messages we explained we would be willing to pay, we do not want anything done for freee - just wanted out rooms to look consistent not totally mismatched... Now they are ignoring us altogether. Please help.
The men were courteous and always on time. The work took a week with several returns by Blesings employees, NOT A CONTRACTOR. The work done in our bedrooms was done by sub-contractors from a large floor covering warehouse we bought the bedroom flooring. The quality of the material and workmanship can not begin to compare to what Blesings Flooring and its employees have done. Don't cut corners. Go with quality and privately owned businesses.
They refinished the existing floors in our dining room and living room area and when finished, they cleaned up the dust so well that you could wipe your hands across the window sill or walls and not find any dust. They had to cut the floor in our kitchen to install hardwood floors and they did an excellent job without scratching my cabinets that were in place. Also, they matched the wood and stain of the new floor in the kitchen to the old floor in the dining/living room. Because I did not know what color stain I wanted, they showed me several samples of what it would look like on my floor. Terrific job and so polite and patient with me.
They do not do millwork but when they finished the living/dining room area, they did a great job of matching the stain to the existing stained wood baseboards that we had installed. Just wonderful workmenship. I would recommend them and have done so already to everyone looking to have their floors refinished or new floors installed. We had a lot of work done this fall on the floors in our house and I wish that we used Blesings Floors for the two bedrooms that were done earlier. We will be using them to have hardwood floors installed downstairs in our family room in the spring.
Eloise and Rupert Samuels
First, they took a very beaten up, ancient parquet floor throughout our living room, dining room and entry foyer and made it look like new, even getting rid of oxidized rust spots from nailheads and dark brown water stains left from potted plants.
On the second floor, we had combined two bedrooms to make a larger master, which left the floor totally uneven where the wall had once been. Blesing's repaired and refinished the wood such that anyone who sees it now cannot believe there were ever two separate rooms.
We are extremely happy with their work and will be using them for any flooring needs in the future.
look great. However, when the job was done, the crew brought the carpet down to the end of my
driveway, left it there, and drove away. I assumed it was an oversight
and left a voice mail message on Blesing's phone. I never received a
call back and had to deal with the carpet disposal problem on my own. (Not a small thing in NJ). Of the total $700 charge, $30 was associated with the carpet removal that never happened..
These guys are awesome. Highly recommended.
appealing to buyers. John Blesing gave us an estimate for refinishing,
since it appeared that there was existing hardwood in the living/dining
room. We accepted the proposal and the crew got there ready to work
within the week. John discovered that there was actually polyurethaned
plywood under the carpet, so the job turned into a new floor
installation. The price he quoted was very fair for the large space, and
he was able to still get the floors finished with the same crew in the
same timeframe. It came out beautiful, and the floor has been one big
reason why the house is now sold. I am planning to hire Blesing Floors
again in the coming weeks for my own home.
On Saturday Sept. 1, the crew showed up on time and quickly removed the old rugs, they then proceeded to sand the floors and afterwards applied polyurethane. They then returned promptly on Tuesday morning to complete the job. Everything was done in a workmanlike and efficient manner. I was pleased with the work and would recommend them to anyone needing wood floor refinishing.
I interacted with the owner, John, for the administrative elements (so perhaps he does better work if personally involved), but he had another team out to perform the actual work. During the appointment, one of the two guys spent the majority of the time sitting in the van talking on his cell phone. Meanwhile, the floor refinishing turned out streaky and while they were willing to attempt a 2nd coat during a subsequent visit to correct it, even that 2nd visit left it less-than-perfect with major brush strokes still visible on the floor.
In addition, they were supposed to fill nail holes left by the carpet installation that had been covering the floor and didn't complete that work either. Specifically, some were filled by my request after the 2nd visit scheduled to correct the poor work in the first go-round, but not all. And, to add insult to injury, the floor filler didn't match the wood so it left light polka dots all over the floor. I know for a fact that there is matching floor filler at Home Depot if they had cared to match it - I have since had to correct that myself. And finally, had I not reminded them that they were supposed to take the carpet away as included in the invoice, they would have left me with that mess as well. The pictures I took speak for themselves. Extremely disappointed.
"We went back to this job and corrected the problems that were pointed out to us. After we returned to correct these problems, the homeowner was very pleased with our work. We stand behind our work, and are not happy unless the customer is happy!"
