New Life Tile & Grout

At the time we were quite satisfied. Now, however, one of the bathrooms has grout falling away from the tile. We contacted Mr. Kerr to tell him the problem. He said he'd set up an appointment to fix it but he has failed to do so. He is ignoring calls, texts and contact through Angie's List.

At first, Declan would call every day to tell us what he had accomplished, but then he faded away into other projects. He did save our kitchen floor after a previous contractor had embedded dust and been unable to fix it. Declan is brilliant when it comes to tile - but he doesn't follow-through. Ironically, in the process of sealing a marble floor, he accidentally embedded dust into that floor. We had to keep after him to come back and fix it with no less than 10 phone calls. In February and March 2011, he made 3 appointments to return and remedy the situation but stood us up each time, without ever calling. He never finished the job and didn't refund our money for that portion (as we had suggested). As an aside, he also got into an argument with our super over the building work hours and the police actually had to escort him from the building. Nice guy but flighty and, ultimately, not to be trusted.

I contacted Declan the week after Christmas. He sounded busy and asked if he could call me back, as he was out of the office. I said that was fine and gave him my number. A week later he still had not called me back. I called him and he agreed to come by for an estimate that evening. After looking at the bathroom to be worked on he told me he would need to write up the estimate and would email it to me. I gave him my e-mail address and he left. Two weeks later I still had not heard from him. I called him and left a message. No response. I called him quite a few more times and left messages. He's never called me back. My job was not a small job and would have cost a good amount of money. The fact that I was never contacted or my messages returned makes me doubt his commitment to any of his jobs. His behavior was extremely unprofessional.

The kitchen and bathrooms in our city apartment had been renovated by others 10 years ago and were in need of sealing, repair to the cracking shower floor and installation of various accessories into the tile. I found Declan Kerr thru Angie's List and was pleased to discover that he had the necessary construction skills and a concern for doing things right. He was able to answer my questions in a timely way and to start quickly. He was hands on, working with 1 or 2 assistants as needed. I am very detail oriented and found Declan to be patient, highly skilled and responsive to all my concerns and requests. The areas are now renewed, more functional and a pleasure to live with.

The work looked good for about 10 days and then it wore off. The floors look like a mess again. The work needs to be done again properly. The workmanship and the materials were not satisfactory. They left someone in my apartment to finish the job who didn't speak English. I had no way of communicating with that worker. Previously to hiring the company, the owner had promised me that he would be present at my apartment to supervise the project.

Declan was very responsive and prompt in getting back to me with an estimate. The estimate was very reasonable, and Declan was very knowledgeable about what needed to be done. They made a date to do the work, and did the job in one day. The men were polite and very clean. Excellent, and responsive company. I would use them again, and probably will.

I did initially have an issue getting a hold of someone to come out to get an appointment with them. I did keep leaving voice mails, but once they were here they did good job and the price was very reasonable.

Declan Kerr is extremely knowledgeable in his approach and explanation of the process. The work was performed in exactly the time frame he described; a little more care could be taken in prepping surrounding areas to protect from dust, but otherwise the process was minimally disruptive. Declan was able to thoroughly correct mistakes made by an earlier tiling contractor. The results are fantastic--the floors look completely renewed and with the applied sealant, should stay that way.

I spoke with Declan from New Life Tile and Grout. He gave me an estimate over the phone, which I thought was odd because it was sight unseen. I also thought the estimate of $500.00 was a little high, especially since my bathroom is small, but he had come so highly recommended through Angie's List, I thought I would trust the others and continue with the service. I called him on July 2nd, before the holiday weekend and he called me back on the sixth which I thought was reasonable. We agreed that he would come and perform the service on July 12th at 9:00 a.m. He never showed and has not returned my phone calls. I was extremely disappointed with his company and him as well. I would rate him as an "F" in regards to his customer service and professionalism. I found someone else who came and provided the service the next day, 7/13/10, for small fraction of the cost.

I have a 1920's tudor house. Believe it or not, two of the bathrooms are original (except for a pedestal sink). The mosaic floor tile and 6"square wall tile were as clean as we could get them, but certainly no where near fresh. The grout was just old, cracked and stained. Declan and his team did a beautiful job cleaning, repairing and regrouting walls and floors in both bathrooms. I appreciated Declan's care. He knows tile. A significant number of wall tiles fell off when the team replaced a soap dish. I did not even hear about the extra repair work until the job was done, on time, on budget, no surprises. Declan pays attention to every little detail. He was on the job for two days all day. His team did really hard, beautiful work and left the house spotless. I could not be more pleased.

I had a little bit of trouble connecting with the service manager, Declan, to arrange for an estimate. We kept missing each other's phone calls. Finally, we arranged (via voicemail) to meet at my apartment. He was on time, and very professional. We agreed on a price for the work and he was able to start the job within a week. In addition to cleaning the grout in the kitchen and bathrooms, I asked him if he would be able to remove a rust ring that had been on our bathtub since before we bought our apartment in 1997. On the day of the work, he and his helper showed up early. They finished the job in one day and the kitchen floor and bathroom tiles look absolutely sparkling and beautiful. They even got the rust off the bathtub. We had our kitchen renoved in 2005 and the grout was pretty dirty. It looks fantastic now. They cleaned up after themselves, and Declan was proactive in getting the approval from the managing agent for our apartment building to do the work. All in all, it was a fantastic experience, and I felt it was money well spent. I can't believe how nice and clean the kitchen and bathrooms look!

My bathrooms are shining. There are no more black moldy areas which look unappealing. My kitchen floor, which is about thirty years old, looks almost new. The house was left clean and neat.

I wanted to let you know how impressed I was with NEW LIFE GROUT. Everyone was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. The two young men that came to my home were extremely courteous and professional. I am very happy with the tile work that was done in both bathrooms, it looks like new!
