I have used Reissmann for over 20 years, and have found them to be extremely professional and reliable. They have performed major plumbing repairs, including rerouting of several water lines from underneath the house as well as total replacement of the gas-fired boiler. The quality of their work is top notch. Their pricing definitely puts them in the and quot;more expensiveand quot; category, but I'm willing to pay a slight premium because of the quality of their work.

When I spoke to Nicki about the estimate without the cost related to permits and asked for an estimate of what costs would be associated with getting a permit, I was told she could not give me a definitve cost due to the varabily associated with inspections. When pressed to give me a range, she told me a $40-50 permit fee and maybe an hour of time as the work and quot;simply was placing a pressure gauge on and then taking it off after inspectionand quot;.
Given my estimate that Reissmann inclusive of the permit would be more than the competitor, I engaged the competitor. However, we were 2 weeks away from hosting a party at my house and needed the grill and the competitor told me that after he mailed the permit, it could take upto 21 days to have it approved BEFORE they would start the work. Based on this timing and the fact they could expedite it in to meet my timeline. I stopped and decided to revisit after the party and choose to not grill for the party.
However, the scheduler (think Mary) from Reissmann CALLED ME a week prior to the party and having expressed my concern that it will not be likely to get the permit approved, start the work and be all complete before my party provided we now were at the friday before Memorial day. I was told that they could do it in a week, start to finish, no problem and that she would mail the permit application in and start work Wednesday after the holiday.
Wednesday work is completed and I pay 50% of the $725, but when I called Reissmann to ask when the inspector would come to approve the work, I was told that the permit wasn't approved yet and that Reissmann would have the gas line ready for operation and that I could call them after the party to place the pressure gauge on the line and await for the inspector. I expressed my concern that I wanted to do whatever would be best for their schedule so as to not incurr any significant fees associated with the inspection. I was told me that Reissmann would work with me and likely only pay for the 20-30 minutes needed to put the gauge on and then later to take it off. I have them come back 1st thing Monday morning and the plumber was not more than 15 minutes at my house.
Inspection goes without any issue and call Reissmann to come back and remove their gauge so that I can grill during the weekend. I didn't want to touch their gauge, but it was as simple as unscrewing it from the fitting, but didn't want to find myself ruining their gauge and the having to be liable. This time the plumber was here for 20 minutes and it was only longer because he thought that an elbow should be added so that if I removed the grill, the fiiting wouldn't be parallel to the sky and open to rain sitting in.
We settle up on the bill and I come to find out that they charged me $95 service charge to put the gauge on and another $95 to come back and remove it. When inquiring why so much for no more than 30-45 minutes of work related to the pressure gauge, I was rudely told that the $95 is a fixed service charge to have a plumber come up for an 1 hour of diagnosis and that I could have had the plumber stick around for the full hour if I wanted to- NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. When I pushed back and noted that 1. there was no diagnosis needed 2. the plumber was only here both times for a max 30 minutes, if that and 3. Why no one could tell me that beforehand - I specifically asked Nicki to give me an estimate and she couldn't tell me, but it appears it was a fixed price AND/OR when concerned about incurring more fees, the scheduler should have told me then that it would be a fixed amount each time. I wrote a check for the remaining balance less $95.
I later was invoiced for this $95 and after trying to reach out to Nicki since June 17th and her not calling me back as of Aug 1st, I decided that I gave them a reasonable amount of time to address my concerns but haven't and shared my story here. While I will simply pay the $95 to move on in my life, I will not use them going forward based on this experience as I can never trust the prices they quote, seems to be a bit of an up-sell tactic when the customer has no choice. I should have simply removed their gauge and charged them.
