Reissman was successful in cutting two copper pipes and removing my water heater, but they overcharged me by a lot. The dispatcher (Judy) told me that she had to send two people because the job required two people to carry my water heater down the stairs. However, when it came time to carry the water heater out, one person strapped it to a hand cart and rolled it out on his own. Clearly, they made up an excuse to bill me for a second person. The second person stood around for an hour and watched while the work was being done. I kept track of the time and the job took a little less than an hour but they decided to bill me for two people at 1.5 hours. I would have been ok with one guy for 1.5 hours ($180) or maybe even two guys for one hour ($240) but billing me for two guys for 1.5 hours ($360) is triple what I should have paid for labor ($120). I should also add that I had new ball valves installed recently. When they cut out the water heater, they also cut out and replaced a perfectly good ball valve. And then, they charged me for the extra valve. Clearly, they have worked on their routine for fleecing consumers. I had them remove my old water heater prior to doing some repairs, but I will not use them to re-install my new water heater. I tried to settle this dispute through the BBB, but Reissmann never responded to the request for information from the BBB. Clearly, they know they are wrong.

The latest visit was to fix a leak under our kitchen sink, which they traced to the dishwasher line. The plumber replaced the line and ran the dishwasher to test it. He spent some additional time checking out the potential for additional leaks under the sink and reported a small leak around the dishwasher's seal. Given the dishwasher's age and service history, we'll probably replace it rather than having it repaired. For its part, Reissmann offers a 5% senior citizen discount, which always helps.

Fast, prompt service at reasonable price. I have used these folks several times for hydronic heating repairs also. Always prompt and responsive.

Hot water tank was inspected in January, at the time the boiler was cleaned and service, and the anode was found to need replacement. Once the part had been received, Reissmann contacted me to schedule the appointment for replacement. Technician called while he was on his way, and arrived on time as scheduled. Replacement procedure went quickly (30 mins.) and was completed neatly and professionally.
I have used Reissmann for over 20 years, and have found them to be extremely professional and reliable. They have performed major plumbing repairs, including rerouting of several water lines from underneath the house as well as total replacement of the gas-fired boiler. The quality of their work is top notch. Their pricing definitely puts them in the and quot;more expensiveand quot; category, but I'm willing to pay a slight premium because of the quality of their work.

I was new in the area and had just purchased a home, unfortunately I experienced several home disasters. Reissmann Plumbing was recommended by a friend and they have now become part of my family. The owner, staff and technicians go beyond the scope of making sure each job they perform is to the utmost satisfaction of their client. Reissmann Plumbing is my go to company with any questions I might have regarding any repairs or work that needs to be done. If they cannot do the job themselves they have a recommendation list that treats the customers as Reissmann would. Every phone call was returned promptly, and each appointment was met without any issues. Emergencies are treated as emergencies and given prompt attention. The owner himself has shown up on jobs to inspect the work and lend a helping hand when I was at a loss of where to turn. The entire company is professional, courteous and personable. They do care about their clients.

We are very pleased with our experiences with them and will continue to support their business and recommend them. The office staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and the individual contractors who perform the work for them are very capable and courteous. Their price is a little bit higher than some of the other plumbers we have used in the past, but they stand behind their work and that security is worth paying for to us.

Response from Reissmann Plumbing & Heating Inc
"Feedback is very important to both the contractors and the clients, and we sincerely appreciate your having taken the time to post your comments. It has been a pleasure working for you, and we look forward to continuing to do so in the future."

I called at 8am and spoke with someone regarding the well problem. The service person called at about 10am and arrived shortly after. This was not an emergency call, this was for a minor repair. The service person explained what he did, how to maintain the equipment, and estimated how long until we will need a bigger repair. He also explained how to replace air in the bladder if it leaks some more, however, there has not been any more problems. If/when we need to replace the pressure tank, we will most likely use this company.

Work was completed on schedule and in a very professional manner. The plumber and office staff were most cooperative. We have used Reissman for over twenty years.

The shower works fine, and offers much more accurate temperature control than the previous (old) unit. Overall, I am satisfied with Reissmann's work, although the firm tends to be on the expensive side. Reissmann is definitely the biggest plumbing outfit in this area (The Mendhams and Chester, NJ), and it offers 24-hour emergency service. I have also used them in the past to service and replace my sewer-ejector pump (a somewhat unpleasant job that they performed cheerfully).

Reissmann was the cheapest quote at $725, however, it was without anything related to getting a permit - eventhough I specifically asked for a quote with and without permit A competitor was slightly more, but all inclusive of the permit and additional time needed related to such.

When I spoke to Nicki about the estimate without the cost related to permits and asked for an estimate of what costs would be associated with getting a permit, I was told she could not give me a definitve cost due to the varabily associated with inspections. When pressed to give me a range, she told me a $40-50 permit fee and maybe an hour of time as the work and quot;simply was placing a pressure gauge on and then taking it off after inspectionand quot;.

Given my estimate that Reissmann inclusive of the permit would be more than the competitor, I engaged the competitor. However, we were 2 weeks away from hosting a party at my house and needed the grill and the competitor told me that after he mailed the permit, it could take upto 21 days to have it approved BEFORE they would start the work. Based on this timing and the fact they could expedite it in to meet my timeline. I stopped and decided to revisit after the party and choose to not grill for the party.

However, the scheduler (think Mary) from Reissmann CALLED ME a week prior to the party and having expressed my concern that it will not be likely to get the permit approved, start the work and be all complete before my party provided we now were at the friday before Memorial day. I was told that they could do it in a week, start to finish, no problem and that she would mail the permit application in and start work Wednesday after the holiday.

Wednesday work is completed and I pay 50% of the $725, but when I called Reissmann to ask when the inspector would come to approve the work, I was told that the permit wasn't approved yet and that Reissmann would have the gas line ready for operation and that I could call them after the party to place the pressure gauge on the line and await for the inspector. I expressed my concern that I wanted to do whatever would be best for their schedule so as to not incurr any significant fees associated with the inspection. I was told me that Reissmann would work with me and likely only pay for the 20-30 minutes needed to put the gauge on and then later to take it off. I have them come back 1st thing Monday morning and the plumber was not more than 15 minutes at my house.

Inspection goes without any issue and call Reissmann to come back and remove their gauge so that I can grill during the weekend. I didn't want to touch their gauge, but it was as simple as unscrewing it from the fitting, but didn't want to find myself ruining their gauge and the having to be liable. This time the plumber was here for 20 minutes and it was only longer because he thought that an elbow should be added so that if I removed the grill, the fiiting wouldn't be parallel to the sky and open to rain sitting in.

We settle up on the bill and I come to find out that they charged me $95 service charge to put the gauge on and another $95 to come back and remove it. When inquiring why so much for no more than 30-45 minutes of work related to the pressure gauge, I was rudely told that the $95 is a fixed service charge to have a plumber come up for an 1 hour of diagnosis and that I could have had the plumber stick around for the full hour if I wanted to- NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. When I pushed back and noted that 1. there was no diagnosis needed 2. the plumber was only here both times for a max 30 minutes, if that and 3. Why no one could tell me that beforehand - I specifically asked Nicki to give me an estimate and she couldn't tell me, but it appears it was a fixed price AND/OR when concerned about incurring more fees, the scheduler should have told me then that it would be a fixed amount each time. I wrote a check for the remaining balance less $95.

I later was invoiced for this $95 and after trying to reach out to Nicki since June 17th and her not calling me back as of Aug 1st, I decided that I gave them a reasonable amount of time to address my concerns but haven't and shared my story here. While I will simply pay the $95 to move on in my life, I will not use them going forward based on this experience as I can never trust the prices they quote, seems to be a bit of an up-sell tactic when the customer has no choice. I should have simply removed their gauge and charged them.

They were simply great. And, I would definitely use them again. They may be a little unresponsive but I think it's because they are so busy.

I have used this company for several years. I call them anytime I have a plumbing problem. They are very professional. They come when they are supposed to and do the job. I don't know how they compare price wise to other plumbers, as I do not use any other plumbers. They always put a customer feedback sheet in with their bill to have you rate their service, so the company is obviously interested in what the customer thinks.
