Minh was pleasant and friendly and wanted to make the job go right. His workers at times were unsupervised. One of the workers didn’t speak English, which made communication difficult. Minh would come at the end of the day for clean up. This wasn’t presented at the original estimate. It was assumed that Minh would be working alongside his workers at all times. He was there on several days if a worker was sick, or took a day off. There were several planks that were protruding out of the slot and needed fixing. There were numerous scratches and holes that were not originally filled in by the workers. The workers had ripped out part of a wall while taking out the carpet. Minh came to spackle and paint the damaged wall. The workers rushed through the job in order to move to the next job. I had paid fully, and had Minh and his workers come back to fix the job. I had to do numerous touch up painting where the wall had scratches in it, as well as use the magic eraser. At times I had to negotiate just to get the remaining repairs done. Overall, the floors look fine now.

The work was done on schedule and completed within the time promised. The workmanship was excellent. The floor looks great.

Owner Minh Trieu was very professional, prompt, and one of the most cheerful contractors I have ever worked with. My almost 100-year old yellow pine floors look wonderful! I will be asking him back when I remodel two other rooms. Extremely pleased!

Minh did an excellent job on refinishing, repairing and staining my hardwood floors. He and his crew were very professional, on time and left my house how they found it. My floors look brand new.

We contacted Minh along with other contractors to get an estimate for our hardwood floors. Pricing was around the same ballpark. The reason we went with Minh was that it was very evident that he was customer service oriented. He was patient in explaining what he was going to do, what was required of the process, and the different options/cost breakdown of what could be done. He answered all of our questions without us feeling that we were bothering/inconveniencing him. He is very quick with communication via cell/text message.  
We were able to move up the scheduling as a space opened for us to have an earlier start date. Minh and his workers came on time, worked through the entire day, took just a brief lunch break, and were quick to get back to work.
In the process, there was a time where I had concerns of different color stains (as we were refinishing the bedroom floors to match the living room). I texted Minh and although he was not scheduled to come in that day, he made time to come and look at the stains and explained that his worker had tried multiple stains to match the living room floor. He showed that the appearance of the color of the new stain differed depending on where you were standing. After they applied the polyurethane, it blended in together well. We really appreciated the fact that it was important to him that we were satisfied. You can see that his main priority is to make sure the customer is happy. 
Some unforeseen "findings" came up in that our stairs had been plastered with linoleum (a discovery made when the carpet was taken up) and that 1/3 of our hallway did not have hardwood flooring as was expected. We felt that Minh was very reasonable in accounting for the additional costs as these required additional materials and labor.  
Minh did a great job refinishing and installing the hardwood flooring. He is very friendly and easy to talk to. He was always ready and willing to answer all questions and concerns you had, no matter how big or small. As such, it made working with him a pleasure and actually tipped our choice to use him as opposed to other contractors.

He did wonderful job laying hardwood floors throughout.. Minh had a difficult task we asked him to create a custom color from two different stains. He was able to ccordinate new floors and old floors  refinishing them as well.
We have come to know him on a personal basis and he is a gentleman.

Before starting the project we received 3 quotes. Minh was very competitive but we eventually gave him the business because you can clearly see that Minh is extremely service oriented. He walks you through the entire process and is very honest. He will tell you things that others will not. If he does not believe something can be fixed he will tell you that. Other people I received quotes from promised me things could be fixed on our floors that could not, and Minh told us that right away. Minh puts the client first and is willing to work Saturdays and Sunday's without question. I highly recommend him. People are always commenting on my floors and how great they look.

From the start Minh was professional and very easy to deal with, he gave a good price and even agreed to work on Saturday. Minh and his crew arrived early as promised, worked very efficiently and left a new beautiful floor behind. They also made sure that they left the place clean: all waste was neatly stacked into the garage and the room and surroundings were thoroughly vacuumed. Thank you!

He's a great guy. Minh came and gave us an estimate in 2009 and the price was right. I called them a year later and he still had our estimate. He did a fabulous job. He worked around 2 old radiators and it wasn't a big inconvenience to the family at all. They were fast and efficient. He worked a miracle in our 90 year old house. He was here on time, cleaned up well, and finished on schedule.

Minh and three other providers all were available to offer estimates within a day or two of my call; he and the others all offered written estimates promptly as well. I chose SJH because of the good reviews on Angie's List and because, as he'd had another job cancel and had a few days with nothing scheduled, he offered a slight discount in order to fill in his calendar! His availability fit my time frame very well. His quote was slightly below two others, and significantly above the fourth, which made me suspect the fourth wouldn't be as thorough in doing the work.
Minh had warned me that a few spots might not come out in three rooms with pretty damaged finishes, but the sanding and finishing removed everything. He advocated an oil-based polyurethane, because it results in a slightly darker finish and he wanted the nail holes left by w/w carpeting to be camouflaged but I held out for water-based because it dried faster and is less fume-y. The nail holes show pretty clearly, but they're attractively rustic. It would have taken colored stain to make the wood dark enough to hide them completely.
One of his crew forgot to clean up a sink he'd used, and I showed Minh a couple photos of the mess. He apologized sincerely and knocked $50 off the price of the job, and I cleaned it up pretty easily, so I felt he handled the minor issue very well. He did have to return to fill in some divots (the result of very old floors), and he did so promptly and handled that well also. Overall, I'm very pleased with the work he and his team did.

Minh and his crew did an absolutely excellent job! The floors are beautiful! He had to remove about 20 boards to repair the sub floor, and the floor is now completely solid...and beautiful.
From the beginning, Minh provided me with knowledge and expertise on how to refinish the floors, what finish to use, and how to do it economically. He provided me honest feedback and helped me make economically decisions. His response rate was unmatched - he called me back immediately and was always available to speak.
I wanted the job done quickly and he was able to fit me in exactly when I needed the job complete. He started the job when he said he would, and completed it when he said he would. Great job, Minh!

It went great. Minh and his men were prompt. they were very professional and knowledgeable. His price was fair and reasonable. Minh went out of his way to make sure we were very satisfied with his work (and we were). The finish on the floors look beautiful and his suggestion to have the custom floor registers (completely level with the floor and blend perfectly) was the best ever. We are so happy. It went great. Minh and his assistant were very diligent and hard-working. They were thorough. We found 2 boards that needed to be replaced and he cut and replaced them with new ones just where they were damaged. He also plugged a hole that the previous owners had left for a Cable TV wire that is no longer used. He sanded the major areas with a floor sander, the sides with a belt sander and any leftover areas with a hand tool. He did not miss a single spot.

The best part was his FLEXIBILITY. He was supposed to start work last Saturday. However, we discovered some severly deteriorated paint behind a coat closet we had made for our living room. We canceled him for Saturday and spent the day painting the living room (and behind the coat closet), hallway, and floor. We contacted Minh and he accommodated us by coming out Sunday instead. He sanded the floors while we went to Church. When we returned the floors were bare.
We were uncertain of a stain color to match our upstairs hardwood floors. I insisted on Gunstock (which was the color used upstairs and installed 10 years ago). We also considered Golden Pecan and Early American (Minh's choice). I honestly thought the Gunstock would work. Minh used 3 sections of the floor to demonstrate the color on each. We even went to the top step and did the same. Wouldn't you know it, but the closest match was and quot;Early Americanand quot;, which is what Minh suggested in the first place!

After sanding, he stained on Sunday and then his assistant came out for 2 hours from Monday through Wednesday to apply polyurethane and then a finishing coat Wednesday. He advised to keep furniture and feet off the floor for several days. (We sent our kids to Baltimore for the week to stay with their cousins!) We will be holding-off for another 7 days before putting our furniture back.

His prices are extremely reasonable and competitive. His work is top-notch. His neighbor is a very close friend of mine. He did work at my friend's house and all of his colleagues at work. My friend only had glowing reviews about Minh and was particularly impressed with his honesty. I would definitely recommend him to others. I will call him first if we need any more floors finished.

Helpful tip (from my brother-in-law): Get coasters for your furniture before re-installing it back. Reduce the risk of scratches before putting them back!

Minh showed up on time for the estimate and reviewed the project. He then gave us a few options to repair or just to stain the flooring. He wrote up the estimate that same visit with the addition of the options as a separate cost. The work began the following Monday and proceeded as Minh stated it would go. The 1st 2 days involved removing staples left over from carpet underlayment, sanding, minor floor repair and wood filling areas where the parquet flooring showed small gaps between the boards. We opted to have the floor stained a golden oak to even out the overall appearance. After the stain was complete, the heavy water stain in the bedroom showed up worse than I imaged it would. I asked that four of the parquet squares that had the deep stain be replaced. In about 2 hours, the flooring was replaced and the finish coats applied. The floor came out beautiful, so much so that the neighbor who has identical flooring - covered over by carpeting - is getting an estimate to have his flooring refinished as well. Minh came back a few days after the job was complete to inspect the floor and to insure everything was perfect. My wife and I as well as the neighbor was impressed with the quality of the workmanship and would recommend S Jersey Flooring.

I just bought an old house and was getting ready to host Christmas. The approximately 500 squared feet of hardwood floors that are my living room and dining room were covered in thick carpeting. My boyfriend and I peaked around the carpet edges, saw the floor was in really good shape, and proceeded to rip it out. We planned on refinishing it on a tight budget. I've done this work before and was pretty comfortable refinishing a floor again. Once we ripped out the carpet we found blue glue, about 1/4 to 3/4 inch thick covering about 200 sq. feet of flooring. We scrapped for about 5 nights to get half of it out. It was terrible. I finally remembered my previous landlord's recomendation and got Minh's number.

Minh luckily was able to come in the week before Christmas (Not recomended! Your polyurethane needs at least a week to dry well before placing furniture on it, and a month before rugs go on it). He didn't take advantage of my short time frame. Minh was very dedicated, explained the process, and what he needed us to do. Minh was very professional. It took him ONE HOUR to do with his equipment what it took us five days with ours--plus our expense in renting the machine and buying sand paper--we should've called him from the beggining.

Be prepared to give your floor enough drying time. My dog has already put some scratches on the finish--hopefully the finish will get stronger in the next weeks.

Minh was my best Christmas present!
