Auto Body Work
I contacted my new car dealer to find out which body shop they used, and was told Maple Collision. I wanted to use this repair site to ensure that all factory-specific parts were used, and because they had a relationship with my car dealer. When I called, they were up-front with me, and I was notified that there were several vehicles in line before mine. What I was not told was that it would be approximately five weeks before I saw my car again. I was not updated on the status of my repair, and the front desk acted almost irritated whenever I called to get a time estimate. I had to go through my insurance company to get any straight answers, and did not hear from the shop directly until after I had ratted them out to the new car dealer. At the 4 1/2 week point, they told me that there was extra unseen damage which would require re-assessment by my insurance appraiser and stated that my insurance company was particularly difficult to work with and there would probably be a delay in getting the work done due to the insurance company (By the way, the appraiser was on their site the very next day!) What this says to me was not only did they not work on my car for over a month, they didn't even look at it to see if unforeseen issues existed. On the positive side, the job they did was excellent--they restored the car to new-vehicle pristine perfection...but I should hope that ANY reputable body shop would do that. They were very apologetic when I picked the car up, and helped with some of my out of pocket expenses for the rental cars I needed to use (which totaled approximately $2000.00 above the insurance company's cap) They would probably be a very good choice for restoration of a vehicle which was not used on a regular basis.
