Horrible experience. Taking this company to small claims. Technician installed one of the walls out of level on 12/23/2013. Five weeks prior, a technician came to my home to measure for this enclosure. After waiting three weeks the technician who did the install arrived and said, the first technician measured wrong and he would have to re measure. My wife and I waited two more weeks for them to come back. On 12/23/2013, the installer came back and spent three hours installing the doors. Upon finishing the job, the tech said that the reason it looked the way it did was because my grout line wasn't level. On 1/29/2014, a foreman from Glasscrafters came to my home and admitted to me that the glass was out by 1/8 inch. This technician spoke to his superiors in front of me by phone explaining that he wanted to install a plastic shim in between the bracket and the glass. This is not the correct way to fix this problem. I told him to bring a plumb bob in to check the level. He knew what this device was and kept showing me his level. On 2/4/2014 a second representative from Glasscrafters came to my home and admitted to me as well, that their glass is out by 1/8 inch.Once again this person kept showing me his level. This representative explained to me that he has twenty five years in the business. Both the foreman and the second rep were very condescending when they were in my home. After going back and forth with this representative, he told me to have my contractor write up a proposal explaining what could be done differently. I did have this done and submitted the proposal. Glasscrafters has done nothing. I have not even received a phone call since the second representative has been to my home. Glasscrafters continues to claim that my grout line and or tile is not level. I have put a four foot T Square on this glass to show the company that their glass is not level. For those of you that may not know what that is, I will explain. A T Square is what a sheet rocker uses when a straight line needs to be made, when cutting sheet rock. If their glass was level, the T Square would sit flush against the glass. The T Square rocks back and forth. When I put the T Square on the other glass wall, it sits flush. Now this is where it gets interesting. Glasscrafters has been claiming that my tile and or grout line is not level and their glass is. I am going to quote what is written on their website. Glasscrafters quotes, Enclosures are measured according to walls/openings. If walls or bases are out of plumb or level, glass is custom cut to compensate. No channels are required to make glass square. I have had other professional licensed contractors as well as other glass companies look at this and they are flabbergasted that a company would leave a home looking like this. Since the install, the other glass wall has started to fail. A piece of rubber was installed that is supposed to keep water from going all over my floor. It has begun to separate and water is now leaking from the shower. I am going to share a quote from a general manager at Glasscrafters. In his email that he sent to the plumbing supply company, he goes on and on about the tile and grout etc. What is really disturbing is at the very end of his email he states, we will not waste any more time and this will be our last response to this situation. A customer spends their hard earned money on their product, and their general manager responds like this? This tells me that Glasscrafters clearly does not care about their customers. Take a look at the photos, let me know if you would accept this in your home. On 5/14/2014 In response to Glasscrafters Inc. Very predictable response. This company has been trying to blame someone else for their mistake. I will remind everyone that two people from their company admitted that their glass was not level. I want to add that a judge dismissed this case without hearing it, due to the fact that I did not bring in an expert witness. If I hired a lawyer and an expert witness, it would cost more that what the job actually cost. The company admitted that there is an 1/8 bow in the glass, that they say is a natural bow. There is nothing natural about tempered glass, it's made in a factory. I have six years to refile this case, if I choose to do so.

Response from Glasscrafters Inc
We would like our customers and potential customers to know that the claims and lawsuit filed against GlassCrafters in this matter have been dismissed in GlassCrafters’ favor. We take these matters very seriously. At GlassCrafters, we strive to provide the highest quality materials and workmanship to ensure the complete satisfaction of our customers. However, there are instances where circumstances beyond our control make it impossible to achieve this goal. Unfortunately, that situation has developed in the case of a particular customer who is dissatisfied with the final appearance of his shower installation. This customer has chosen to vent his misdirected frustration at GlassCrafters on the internet. In all installations, we take the utmost care to confirm that all measurements are taken with precision, so that our product will enhance the bathroom where it is installed. GlassCrafters did just that in the case of this dissatisfied customer. However, existing conditions in the customer’s home, which were not created by GlassCrafters, have caused a situation where the customer cannot be satisfied. In this particular instance, the exiting tile in his shower has been installed in a manner where the grout lines are out of level and/or plumb. This pre-existing condition makes it impossible to install the shower enclosure in a way that is both safe for use and aligned with the grout. Given a choice between a safe installation and one that may be more aesthetically pleasing, GlassCrafters took the only reasonable course and installed the enclosure in manner that will not harm our customer or his family. As with any customer, GlassCrafters responded to his requests for service to address the situation. However, we have found that the issues the customer raised were not caused by GlassCrafters and are out of our control.

Description of Work: I cannot say enough good things about this company, Skip and his nephew. I wish I could remember his name because he was such a mature young man and will definitely be going places when he makes is career selection. Both were on time, careful carrying and moving and positioning the large shower glass pieces so as not to cause injury to the finished floor, walls, etc. I was very impressed with the precision they were seeking with the placement of the glass walls of the walk in shower. This was more than simply putting in a few sheets of glass into a square surround. It was angled forcing the initial measurements and then placement to be exact. They went beyond the measure twice cut once level of care. They did it multiple times and what I believe others might have said "good enough" they reset the heavy glass walls to make certain it was correct. Craftsmanship like this is a fading skill. Not with Skip and his nephew. Oh, and they explained everything they were doing and would be doing and were more than willing to take the time to answer my questions and I ask a lot of them just because I like to know. Friendlier people, you could never meet. Do seek this company out and do not be concerned if you are thinking of having a walk-in shower with angled cuts. These folks are more than capable, they are experts.
