The workmanship of the installer he subcontracts is very good. As to that there are no complaints. It is the unprofessional, unethical business practices of the owner that are the subject of this complaint.  Work was performed that he did not advise in advance would carry additional costs. A change order was signed that added the installation of a roof cap for a range hood and modifications to the soffit.   When the same change order was returned to us it included numerous additions made out of our presence and without our knowledge or consent. There were charges for unauthorized work relating to neither a roof cap nor soffit modifications. We advised him at the time of our initial sit-down that we had not yet decided on a countertop and, if we were to ultimately decide on natural stone we would purchase it from a friend of ours. When the contract was drawn the amount of $7,990 for a countertop was included. We reminded him yet again that we had not yet made a decision as to the countertop. His response was that he would "rather get it from (us) now than have to ask for it later".  We were uncomfortable with this response, but reluctantly signed the contract despite this because we trusted him. HUGE mistake. In fact we did decide on natural stone and purchased the countertop from our friend. This left him with an overpayment  of $7,990,  from which he took payment for the unauthorized work performed and paying himself in full for a job that is not yet complete, leaving us with no balance to hold back until it was finished to our satisfaction. Kitchen cabinet dealerships are a dime a dozen, located on every corner. Avoid this one.

My experience was excellent overall. I give my highest recommendation to Rich's Kitchens. The tradesmen that he had come in, electrician, plumber and carpenters were excellent, prompt and reliable.
