This plumbing job was not a difficult job- all pipes exposed through the garage and easily accessible. Pat was here only about 3 hours including two cigarette breaks.
After receiving the bill, we called Pat immediately to inquire about the high cost (materials were listed on his invoice for only $60.00- Total =$734.10). Mr. Hall failed to call us back despite our leaving him three messages- two of which were left when we reached his wife on the phone. Pat finally called us back after several weeks, and when questioned about his labor rate, Mr. Hall indicated that his labor rates were $224/hour. He indicated that these rates were flat rates which did not fluctuate regardless of the difficulty of the work. We argued that his rates seemed very high for this particular job and expressed our disappointment that he would not match the rates of other plumbers we have used in the past. Local plumbers in this area are typically about $80-$100 per hour for labor. Mr. Hall refused to work with us on the bill. While the work he performed was satisfactory, we would never use him again due to his gouged prices.
