My wife wore out the leather in her car's driver seat getting in and out of the car. I repaired it twice but it didn't look great and didn't last(lasted about a year). Michael D. Starr returned my call. He said he charges a fixed amount($150) for auto seat repairs and does a lot of work for high end auto dealers. I sent him pictures of the damage and he confirmed the price. We set a date and time. He called in the morning to confirm the appointment and called again to say he was running a little late and we pushed the appointment back an hour. He arrived on time, completed the work, cleaned and re-died the entire seat. He even managed to get the repair to closely resemble the grain of the leather but was unable to replicate the stitching. If I had contacted him sooner, the stitching would not have been damaged and the seat would have looked like new after the repair. My only issue with the experience is that I had to call 2 or 3 times before I got a callback which was 3 days after my first call. Once we connected the process went very smoothly. The owner's name is Mike Starr. He is absolutely phenomenal. He is a real deal. He is in the business from a really long time. He is the second-generation repairman. He really does a tremendous work. He kept the name of the company back from over 20 years ago. He took over from his dad; but he kept the name. He doesn’t market the work on airplanes; but if it comes to him, he takes it. He is not consistent, so it is not something he actually focuses on; but he can do it. My overall experience was excellent. He took a horrific care from an older car, where the seat belt had literally rubbed like a massive hole. He made it completely disappear. He made the steering wheel look brand new from the 17 years of driving. His work is flawless. He takes his time. He can tell what he is doing. He matches all of his colors himself. He doesn't use premix paints. He mixes paints and matches the color of the seats leather. He is a true artist. He works with the paint to get the exact match. I was very impressed. I can tell he has been doing this from a very long time. There were definitely cheaper guys, but the problem was I couldn't get a feedback on any of these guys. When I asked the auto guys, they said Mike is not cheap; but he is phenomenal. The price was relative. I wanted it to be done right. I didn't want to pay for the multiple repairs that end up cost me money. In the end, I think his price is fair. I would use him again because he not only did the work; but he did it right. He said he will stand behind the work. If he needed to come back and repair, he will do it for free. I didn't have any issues with him. He is busy during anytime of the year. I called him more than once because I really wanted to get him, and I got him within 24 hours. He met me when he said he was, so that was not an issue. He represented himself very well. He has a good personality. I have been referring him to friends. There is no complaint from this guy. He does a really amazing work.
