"This is a reply to [Member Name Removed] and Others Reading this REVIEW from Philip DiGasbarro ( Owner/Member of Bridgewater Overhead Doors). BOD installed garage doors and openers at his house, and I was the salesperson that visited his house prior to purchase. After his garage doors and openers were installed, [Member Name Removed] and I discussed via phone the problem of operating the garage doors with new LiftMaster openers, which have a 4-foot power cord and did not reach the old power receptacles on ceiling. Out installers used extenision cord and informed [Member Name Removed] that he had to provide power receptacles. It is possible that the previous homeowner used extension cords to power the openers, which are not allowed by LOCAL codes. I informed [Member Name Removed] the power receptacles can only be installed by a licensed electricians and it is the responsibility of the homeowner to have these available. Our proposal/contract states in NOTE "[Member Information Removed]. Extension cords to power opener is not permitted by code. Electrical work is by licensed electrician." He was upset, as he believes that I did not inform him that the power cord would not reach the receptacle(s) at garage. I informed him that this problem has occurred before and homeowners install nearby receptacles themselves or get a licensed electrician to do it. I also informed him that I have installed a longer power cord from the openers at my house to solve the problem of eaching the tall ceilings, and he could do the same. He asked me if this voids the LiftMaster warranty. I eventually replied after checking with LIftMaster, who informed me that the warranty would be voided, if the opener is modified with non-LiftMaster parts. LiftMasted does not sell power cords. Moreover, I also sent [Member Name Removed] an e-mail that BOD would gladly reprogram or make adjustments to the openers, if there was an issue after he provided the appropriate power source.
