Wonderful experience with Prato. Joe was knowledgeable and explained exactly what needed to be done. Sally in the office totally went above and beyond to validate the existence of a prior permit - which even the TOWN said wasn't there! Jonathan, the technician, was helpful, friendly, and efficient - great experience.

Joe Prato was recommended to me by my Realtor, as I needed the chimney on my new house rebuilding. Though bad weather caused scheduling delays, Sally kept me up to date before, during and after the project. They are both professional and courteous and would recommend without hesitation.

Once we got past some misc. scheduling issues (weather-related), and the work got going, everything was smooth, quick, and efficient. The crew left the work area clean and soot free!

I have a fireplace that threw smoke into the room. I got 2 estimates as high as $1500 from guys that told me I had to raise my chimney. A contractor friend recommended Joe Prato. He came over, on time, for the estimate and suggested a few things that I could do myself. For less than $100.00 I fixed the problem without needing him to return. Wow! How often does that happen? I had been putting up with the smoke for years. I wish I had spoke to Prato first. Would have been enjoying my fireplace for all these years.

On time, very professional, knowledgeable, very honest. Doesn't try to up sell or suggest you have a problem when there isn't one.
Highly recommend.

Everyone we dealt with at Prato was very professional and honest. We had gotten another estimate for double the price in which we were told something would be needed that wasn’t. On the day the work was done, three workers completed the work while Joe, the owner, inspected our smoke chambers and fluesand provided advice. They were gone before I knew it. Joe didn’t want the balance at the time the work was completed and sent us the bill. Joe also met the inspector to close the permit. I’m not sure if this is requiredby the town due to the nature of the work, but was something I hadn’t seen before. We would recommend Prato to others.

I heard about them through our oil company. They came when they said they would. They were very nice, polite and did an excellent job. They had to come back twice as some things had to dry. They cleaned up after themselves well.

We had to do this work when we went to sell our house as we had gotten scammed a few years before when a guy put in a chimney liner that was too small and did not connect it to the hot water heater. The house inspector took off the insulation cover I had put on the hot water heater and saw burn marks on the outside bottom of the heater. We called our relative plumber who looked at it and said there was nothing wrong with the water heater (the and quot;turbulatorand quot; was NOT decaying) but the heater was not vented and the problem was the chimney liner.
The plumber sent over his chimney guy and we just went with him since he was recommended by our relative.
The estimator, who was the owner, explained the problem. He then sent the 4 guys over who did what looked to a nice job to me except that when they left I went down to the basement to look at things and saw that there was a big hole around all the vent pipes they had stuck into the chimney, sort of stuffed with insulation. I called right away because that didn't look right to me. The owner explained that we needed an inspection by the town, after which they would come and fill it in with cement or some substance. So that was all right but it seemed to me that the installers could have said something when they left since they all said goodby.
So then a problem arose because the town chimney inspector was unable to inspect the job before the closing as he was on vacation. I had to call the attorney and get that arranged because the chimney company would be dealing with the new owners. We put money in escrow to cover the cost of the job.
So this turned out to be a unexpected rather large piece of change to spend at the last minute. We will never know whether we could have gotten this work done more cheaply since we did not investigate anything but I m satisfied that this company did a good job and I would use them again if I had to do another chimney.

We are about to use him again because he guaranteed his work. He replaced the mortar before for this price, but since we've had a few leaks due to a windy storm, he is coming out to rebuild the chimney and is crediting us $482.

He estimated it would take $5200.00 plus tax to rebuild my chimney. This did not include the chimney liner. He inspected it from the ground with binoculars and never even went up on the roof. I have have had 3 other companies inspect it and they said that was ridiculous and that it did not need to be replaced. They all went up on the roof by the way. I will definitely not use this company.

The inspection went very well. Joe was accommodating with his timing of the inspection and was very thorough. Additionally, he was very quick to provide us with a written estimate for his recommended repairs and was very responsive to sending copies to 3rd parties involved in our home purchase process. If everything works out with the home purchase, we plan to have him complete the necessary repairs.

After a heavy rainstorm, we noticed that some water had trickled from the roof and down the chimney as it entered the attic. Prato had rebuilt our chimney 3.5 years ago, so we called him to see if he would come to repair the flashing (which had been installed by our roofer after the chimney was rebuilt and when a new roof was put on.) We called on a Thursday, he responded on Friday, and he sent men out to tar flash the chimney base on the following Monday. They did a neat job and were professional.
