We went to court in Dec. 2010 and through mediation this man "promised" that he would repay us the money a little at a time over a one year period. We never saw any money! I found out that Double D Landscaping changed names to D Squared Landscaping. The new owner (D Squared Landscaping) and the owner of Double D Landscaping live with each other at the same address as the business at 1027 Cooper Street in Edgewater Park, NJ. We finally went back to court after the one year was up and filed for a "motion" which was granted to us. As of today, we have not received a penny from this man or companies for what has happened. Hopefully we will be reimbursed the money that is owed to us.
Description of Work: Double D Landscaping came out & removed our old patio from the backyard and put in a new paver patio with steps to the back door, paver walkway from the patio to the driveway, paver walkway from other side of the driveway to the front porch, and applied paver blocks around the sides of the front porch and replaced the concrete steps with paverblocks. The job was beautiful at first.... The front porch paverblocks started to shift and the perimeter blocks started to fall off and break away from the top and sides of the porch. I called the owner in the latter part of 2009, and he stated he would be out to take a look at it. It took him until the Spring of 2010 to come out - he stated he would repair it but never did. I left a few messages and he came out again but never offered to hire someone to fix the dilapitated porch, and he stated he sold the business to another individual called D Squared Landscaping. We finally had three different companies come out and give us estimates because we couldn't wait for him to come out and fix the porch - if someone got hurt, then we as homeowners would be liable. We took the cheapest estimate and the company that came out to fix the porch told us that Double D Landscaping (a.k.a D Squared Landscaping) did not follow the EP Henry guidelines and never put a "footing" around the base of the porch which in turn caused the porch pavers to fall apart. We also found out that our front door became wood rotted because he put the pavers ontop of the porch right up to the threshold of the doorway and never put a flashing behind brick against the wood to prevent rotting. In June of 2010 we had to put an entire new "front door kit" which cost us $1,300 above the $1,500 we had to pay to have the front porch fixed - all because this company improperly installed the porch. We finally took Double D Landscaping, D Squared Landscaping and the owner to small claims court. We could have sued for more - the cost of the porch being fixed and the new front door but we settled on the cost of the porch because the owner gave us a sob story.
