When I called the office to inquire why this was not covered by my 2 year warranty they said the warranty was only for parts. And of course no parts were required because the technician could not figure out how to repair the problem.
Stay away from this company. They do not stand behind their product and they send out incompetent technicians. A $900 garage door opener should not malfunction after less than 2 years.
I met with the salesman Stan who gave me a quote on 3 different garage door openers and mentioned that the most expensive one had a feature that allowed you to open and close the doors from your smart phone or computer. We decided to go with that option and the guys arrived on time the day they were scheduled and got the new openers and pulleys installed. They hadn't realized that they were supposed to put in bottom seals, until I asked about them and they said they would return and take care of them which they did a week later. I also asked if they could show me how to operate the doors from my phone and the installer said he didn't know anything about that. I went thru the manual and then the sales material Stan had left and saw that it is actually an additional option that is available so I called Door Boy as Stan had told me this was included in this opener option (couple hundred dollars more than the other options). I was on hold for about 10 minutes before Stan got back on and told me (without any apology) that the sales brochure was very misleading and that the ability to operate the doors from a computer was actually a separate feature and would be an additional cost and he would find out how much and call me back. A week later I still hadn't heard from him and called back again and he told me that it would be $50 extra. I said I didn't think that I should have to pay that since he had sold me the openers with this as an included feature. He told me again how the brochure was misleading but said he'd check with the office and get back to me. Again, I had to call back after not hearing from him from several days and he finally agreed that they should pay for one of the remote door openers but I would have to pay for the other. I still thought that was wrong as he had sold me both openers with this as a feature, but fine, just want to not have to deal with this any longer and agree to pay for the one. Three weeks later, I still have not heard from them.
Update - I called them again and the remote opener was in eventhough no one had called me and they dropped it off the next day. Turns out Stan was wrong again and I only needed one gateway to control both doors, not two. Thought I was finally done with them until I received a bill despite Stan saying they would pay for the one since he had given me bad information. I left a message and have not received a call back (again). As of this morning I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau. I have never come even close to reporting a business before and would warn anyone considering not to use this company.
Update #2 - Door Boy responded to the complaint to the Better Business Bureau and said I would not have to pay for the gateway and this is not how they usually conduct business.
I would not recommend that anyone patronize these nasty, incompetent people.
When the installer arrived, he asked me for our existing car remotes. My husband had already gone to work, so I gave him two out of three, thinking he would use them to program our new remotes. The installer also noticed right away that our garage did not have any access other than through the garage doors, so he asked if we wanted to have a manual key release installed as a safety precaution - something that was never brought to my attention by my salesman, Stan, or written into my order. I agreed that this would be a good idea. The doors we ordered came painted white at the factory (at an extra charge of $800), and I began to get concerned when I saw both doors getting installed with dirty handprints all over them, and I asked if that would be cleaned up. The installer was quick to say that the doors were only primed and that we would have to paint them. He was corrected by the Stan, who had arrived on the scene by then. The installer was unhappy that he needed to clean up the doors, and the tension between them made me call my husband to come home from work to help me ensure that the work would be done properly. Stan left soon afterwards.
Additional installation help arrived on the scene, and one of the workers asked me to program my codes of choice into two wireless keypads. When an installer removed the existing keypad from inside my home and replaced it, he took the old one with him. I did not think about it then, assuming the whole pile of old (and lt; 2 years) but still functioning keypads and remotes would be handed back to me at some point. One installer showed up with a can of white paint to clean up the by-then hopelessly dirtied doors. At the end of the day when the original installer was left to review the work with me and collect the balance, he showed me a small white keypad that had been installed outside the garage door and advised me that it would only open one door. I replied that this was not acceptable and called Stan. Stan said that my order only included one wired keypad and one wireless, the wired one only opening one door. I advised that this was less than what we had installed there previously and I would never have accepted that had I known about it . He insisted that he told me about it since he has been selling doors for a long time and would not do things any differently than he has always done, so he said that the implication was that I was calling him a liar. He continued that one of us must not be telling him the truth, and that if I wanted the wireless keypad that controlled both doors like the one which I had already programmed, I was responsible for the extra $20 in price. He said he would order the extra keypad and would call me when it came in (future service call and charge). I told him that the installer still had the second one on his truck. Stan reluctantly gave the go ahead to install, and I paid the extra $20 to be done with it. The installation was neatly done, so neatly that my and quot;oldand quot; but still functioning remotes and keypads have disappeared.
"Door Boy, LLC will be contacting this customer to go over issues at hand."
Crew of 2 arrived by 8:30 to start and finished by 1:30 with install of two non-electric doors.
Crew head coordinated regularly with homeowner on placement of handles locks and pull-down rope. They checked with us on everything to avoid install misunderstanding. Great communication and coordination.
Cleaned-up site perfectly and gave maintenance advice as well as scheduled future maintenance.
Doors were slightly more expensive but we wanted top window in keeping with house architecture and steel back with insulation.
Door Boy did a great job. Recommend them highly.
