The job went poorly. The contractor took money on a contract that didn't meet the NJ Department of Consumer Affairs guidelines. He performed poor quality work that did not pass local code inspection. Frustrated he failed to fix the problems, packed his tools, and left the job incomplete. The state went after him and recovered some of the money owed to me, but being a LLC. there was really nothing that could be done. I would not recommend Steve or Gloria Bodnar to anyone.
Description of Work: Received money to perform work, and failed to follow through on the contract.

The project overall was a disaster. The foundation was excavated questionably shallow and the foundation drain was never hooked up. The block foundation was laid out of level and never scratch coated. The contractor then framed, sheathed, and installed the windows for the addition on the out of level foundation. He further tried to hide the mistakes. The addition tie in to the existing ceiling joists and rafters was never completed. The roof was installed with the ridge vent leading into the wind, there was an existing vent pipe that fell in a valley after construction of the addition that wasn't moved, the copper flashing around the chimney was never replaced, and there are dabs of white silicone randomly on the roof where the nails blew through during install. The re-framing of the windows and doors had to be done twice because they failed inspection or didn't match the existing elevations of the surrounding windows. The windows that were order don't match the existing windows in the house. I paid for complete windows and later came to find the jams were never ordered. i was overcharged for the door that was installed. The contractor then miss ordered the siding and tried to tell me that I had changed my mind. I didn't allow the siding to be put up, and was working with him on how to remedy the situation when he just packed his things and left. He returned my key to the house and left me with a construction nightmare. I am still trying to work with him on finishing the house, but without success.
Description of Work: I knew this contractor while growing up and I hired him to do an addition, roof, windows, doors and siding installation. The addition involved digging a foundation, framing the new construction and tying it into the existing house. The roof involved removing a slate roof and repairing any wood issues and installing new copper flashing on a stone chimney. The windows and doors involved some re-framing of openings, ordering and properly installing of the windows and doors to match the existing. The siding involved installing Cedar Impressions vinyl on the house.
