I love Sherman Smith Plumbing and Heating plain and simple. They are the only name that I trust, and so should you. I have numerous other examples of how these guys saved me...such as coming out on Christmas Eve in the snow to clear a clog when my family was expected to arrive in 2 hours...clearing the clog...and then not charging me a dime...just wishing me a "Merry Christmas" :-) I'm a fan for life.
By the way, if you need a water softener, I personally recommend the Nuvo system that Sherman Smith installed in my home 3 years ago. It works great. I replace the filter once a year and no longer have to lug 40 lb bags of water softener salt into the basement to fill a clog-prone salt-based filter.
Work was quickly scheduled at our convenience within a few days and they completed the whole job in 2 days. They sent a full crew of workers and the job didn't drag on.
One of the workers slipped and put a foot through our ceiling while installing the attic unit, and Sherman immediately personally called me, apologized profusely (as did his workers when I got home) and dispatched a sheet rock repair expert out in less than 24 hours to repair at his expense. They did a great job. Fixed and painted it perfectly and left it good as new. Look, accidents happen when humans are involved. The measure of a company is how they respond. Really couldn't have asked for more.

"I am sorry if you are unhappy with our response time, however, we do keep a phone log of all incoming and return calls. I do show a call into the office and a return call was made when I came back 1.5 hours later. There was not answer and a message was left. We have no record of receiving a return call from the customer. However, for future reference if you do not hear back from us within 2 hours, it is a good idea to try to reach out again. On occasion a number may be written down in correctly. Thank you"
"Unfortunately our technician got held on a job, that was supposed to be one hour but ended up having a job that had some issues that took longer. The technician did try calling the homeowner, but did not get an answer. The homeowner did call the office at the time of his appointment and spoke to Sherman and was told that he technician would be to him in about an 1 hour to 1.5 hours because of the the job he was on. At that time he said he understood and appreciated him telling him that. Our technician arrived an hour late for the appointment and apologized to the homeowner for being late. As far as the diagnostic of the job, we were called in after the homeowner tried to take the shower valve apart himself. We sent pictures of the cartridge to our supply house. When the cartridge came in we were given the wrong cartridge. The shower is a dual shower and there are 2 different cartridges for it. We needed other one, which we got and replaced for him. Unfortunately we can not please everyone, but we do the best we can. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused him."

I was impressed with their knowledge of what needed to be done and what was difficult and/or easy.
They seemed sincerely interested in my getting the best, most cost-effective solution.
I don't expect to use them as their quote was about $500 over another quote. That seems like a lot of money when the total is under $4000. I will consider using them if I can't work out a couple of additional items with the other provider.
