It lasted seven months. They did extremely well on the bookshelves and attic job. I bought all the materials. I also had him give me a quote to do a basement remodel. A year later I contacted him and he raised the price. I didn't blame him but that made me look for other people. I found out that his prices were not all that good and neither was the design that he proposed. Because of the good job he did with the attic and bookshelves I hired him to do the second job of remodeling my bathrooms. My issue was the flooring in the main bathroom. He put the flooring on top of the old flooring and when I had another contractor come and do work a year later, he discovered some serious significant leaks and I had to have the bathroom completely torn apart down to the beams. There was damage on the original floor and over time it had completed damaged the plywood. Had MRJ Builders noticed this and told me this could have been prevented and it would have been a relatively small thing. He knew enough to know there was a problem and he went ahead and finished the floor. Someone that is in this field should have had that knowledge. If he was incompetent I wouldn't fault him for that, but if he knew and went ahead with the work and put the floor on top of the damage, that was terrible. I was really disappointed even with some small things. He installed a towel rack and it fell apart. I had asked him to change some of the flushing mechanisms on the toilets and two of them started leaking because they were not properly done. I eventually had to get that fixed by somebody else. It appeared that the quality was good from the outside, but either he was lacking in talent or was trying to deceive me. If it was a small job and you monitored it very closely I would say to go ahead and use him. If it is a bigger job, don't go with him. He didn't always get back to me right away. I didn't have a problem with his cleanup. He did a good job of cleaning up when he was finished.
