His price was very reasonable for all of the work that they did on my home! It was worth every dime!
John and his crew were very detail oriented, clean and efficient. They finished the job in 4 days, and did a tremendous job! I would definitely recommend Brushworks, John and his crew to anyone. I hope to have them back in the Spring for another project!
The job got scheduled in a timely fashion, the crew was very polite and professional. Did the job in the expected time frame and communicated accordingly. Would recommend to others.
excellent work.
Two fun things noticed today (after John/Brushworks disputed whether or not this review was real, really?!)
1. they painted an expensive light fixture shut (so they didn't bother taping it). Luckily (or not?) I haven't had to replace the bulbs until today. That was fun!
2. they didn't bother to tape the joint between the crown molding and ceiling, resulting in cracks all over the joint where the molding meets the ceiling and wall. Horrible looking, will have to have the entire thing repainted.
John brought in his crew and worked diligently to get our place painted in between us closing on and moving into our condo in Hoboken.
Honestly, I was underwhelmed with his work when they first completed the job (and let them know), and every day I walk by a couple of spots that remind me how underwhelmed I still am.
They were extremely sloppy with detail work:
- Recessed lighting covers were not removed
- Switch plates were not removed
- Trim was not taped off from adjoining wall (now cracking, less than a year later)
- Walls didn't get fully primed; a couple of walls have major spots where you can still see the base layer of patching - very obvious
All in all, we paid a premium price for a premium job and received far less, in my opinion. I'd caution anyone else considering using John to keep this in mind and run through their work with a fine toothed comb when completed.
- They completed the apartment mostly on time, but even after coming back for touch-ups (to clean up aforementioned sloppy work) they left and it still looks subpar. I didn't call them to come back a third time.
John was also very flexible with timing. I was also having my floors refinished, which had to be rescheduled. John adjusted his appointment and worked with me to get both jobs done.
The overall job is excellent. My ceiling and baseboards are white with blue/gray walls. The borders between colors are perfect and sharp. There isn't a smudge mark anywhere in my apartment. The painters were efficient and cleaned up when they were done.
About 2 years later, my upstairs neighbor had a leak. Water got under my paint and caused bubbles. Brush Works came in again, repaired the damage and repainted. It looks as good as the first paint job they did for me.
Brush Works is highly professional and does fantastic work. I know several others in my building who have used them and all of us have great things to say about them. They may be a bit more expensive than others in town. However, they use high quality Benjamin Moore paint and you get what you pay for with the job they do.
