John was very responsive.  he called emailed me and called me soon after i reached out to him on Angies List.  He gave me a very reasonable estimate, and started the job very soon after we sorted out all the details.  John removed wallpaper in my laundry room, painted my family room, hallways, living room, dining room, master bedroom, & bath, and a loft.  Her repaired and painted the ceiling in my spare room.  He also, painted all the popcorn ceilings!  And they look great!
His price was very reasonable  for all of the work that they did on my home!  It was worth every dime!
John and his crew were very detail oriented, clean and efficient.  They finished the job in 4 days, and did a tremendous job!   I would definitely recommend Brushworks, John and his crew to anyone.  I hope to have them back in the Spring for another project!

Got three estimates, BrushWorks was the best priced and included paint.
The job got scheduled in a timely fashion, the crew was very polite and professional.  Did the job in the expected time frame and communicated accordingly.  Would recommend to others.

They did quality work. They were efficient, careful, and accommodating if I requested anything additional needed to be done. I had a very good experience with them.

Overall, we had a very good experience with John Beers, Sergio and the team at Brushworks.  John provided us with a reasonable estimate based off of our floorplan.  Sergio then visited our apartment to answer questions and review the estimate.  John was very nice to deal with and responsive.  We scheduled the work for the following week.  The crew arrived on time and finished the job early.  They were very neat and left the apartment very clean after each day of painting.  The paint job was well done.  I would definitely use them again and recommend Brushworks to others.

The job was very well done.  They did patching in areas as needed and I have not seen any flaws with their work (which John has offered if we did see any touch ups, just to let him know -which is over and beyond what I expected).  John was responsive throughout the process and got us his estimate the very next day.  The work was done in one day - I believe there were 4 - 5 guys on this job.  They cleaned up the area and assisted in moving furniture back into place. We were very pleased with their responsiveness, efficiency, and felt we got an excellent value by hiring Brushworks Painting for this job.

John and his team were exceptionally professional and as un-obtrusive as possible. the job was phased to meet our requirements and the quote (which was competitive) and scope were clearly documented and not exceeded.
excellent work.

it went very well.  they moved furniture (all I was asked to do was pack up any breakables), sealed off rooms (had to have walls repaired, sanded, primed), must say, which all the sanding, there was hardly any dust. they had so much to do in each room and it was done perfectly.  they put the furniture back when they were done in each room.  cleaned up every night.  I would use them again.

Update 2/14/2016:

Two fun things noticed today (after John/Brushworks disputed whether or not this review was real, really?!)

1. they painted an expensive light fixture shut (so they didn't bother taping it). Luckily (or not?) I haven't had to replace the bulbs until today. That was fun!

2. they didn't bother to tape the joint between the crown molding and ceiling, resulting in cracks all over the joint where the molding meets the ceiling and wall. Horrible looking, will have to have the entire thing repainted.

John brought in his crew and worked diligently to get our place painted in between us closing on and moving into our condo in Hoboken.
Honestly, I was underwhelmed with his work when they first completed the job (and let them know), and every day I walk by a couple of spots that remind me how underwhelmed I still am.
They were extremely sloppy with detail work:
  • Recessed lighting covers were not removed
  • Switch plates were not removed
  • Trim was not taped off from adjoining wall (now cracking, less than a year later)
  • Walls didn't get fully primed; a couple of walls have major spots where you can still see the base layer of patching - very obvious

All in all, we paid a premium price for a premium job and received far less, in my opinion.  I'd caution anyone else considering using John to keep this in mind and run through their work with a fine toothed comb when completed.
  • They completed the apartment mostly on time, but even after coming back for touch-ups (to clean up aforementioned sloppy work) they left and it still looks subpar.  I didn't call them to come back a third time.

They used high quality paint and didn't have to do multiple coats for saturated colors. Subsequently, we have used them to do touch up, seal a dining table and repaint.  I have recommended John and his company to many in our building and would continue to do so.

John and his team did a fantastic job getting our new condo painted , in record time.  We really appreciated John's willingness to work on our timeline (short) and had a large team working to complete before our move in.  Despite the hurry, the work looks great and we couldn't be happier. We strongly recommend Brushworks.

John and his team painted my whole apartment.  In addition, I was pregnant, so John used a special paint that wouldn't smell up the apartment and would let me still live in the apartment safely.  He had great prices and his team was very nice.  They were quick, very professional, and I hope they will work in my new house soon!  Recommend them - they're WONDERFUL!

I requested an estimate, John showed up at the appointed time and provided a detailed estimate.  I obtained several estimates and John's was the best combination of low cost and knowledgability of the steps needed to skim-coat walls.  He quickly provided requested paperwork on his insurance and license.  The crew of four showed up on the designated day, and 5 days later the entire 2-bed condo completed.   The walls are now in excellent shape, ready for painting.

They were quick to respond with the quote. I didn't appreciate his lack of customer service skills. He was booked up and didn't know when he would get to me and a whole lot of excuses which was a negative to me and I didn't use him.

Honestly, I can't say enough great things about John/Brushworks Painting.  His team did a great job repainting nearly every inch of our townhouse with Benjamin Moore Aura paint, he painted and installed new crown molding in our master bedroom (where there previously was none), and went out of his way to personally help us with a few other odd jobs that we had for our newly purchased home (ex/ removing builder-grade bathroom mirrors, removing a huge storage rack hanging from the ceiling in the garage, and hanging new chandelier and pendants in the dining/kitchen.)  He is always incredibly quick to respond to calls and emails and was very patient with my laundry list of requests.  I will absolutely hire Brushworks again.
