Charlie was responsive and amicable over the phone. Guys showed up on time and did the job as expected to determine fault with outlets and repair one as needed. Actual work took about exactly one hour. Electrician, though, was argumentative when I simply inquired about a portion of the work being done during the one hour. Upon completion, I received a bill for 1.5 hours. When questioned, the electrician was argumentative again and countered that an extra 6 - 8 minutes of time - which consisted of him walking outside to his truck, putting away his tools, writing up the invoice, bringing it back in the house, and me writing the cheque - counts as 30 minutes billable for an extra $100. From other reviews it seems that BRE is very good at milking the clock and overcharging for unnecessary / non-labor time. Minimal customer service and a bad attitude from the electrician. Not a good experience overall.

They brought 2 men when the job was a one man job and they were obviously training the second man, but charged for 7 hours at $105 per hour and they were here for less than 3 hours.

Our dissatisfaction stems from the price of more than $1,600 including tax and the manner in which BRE responded to our subsequent queries. More specifically, we felt the time required to diagnose the cause of the outage on the outdoor problem lighting zone was excessive. The first day on the job BRE charged us $270 for three man-hours of labor and left the premises apparently without a diagnosis of the problem. Altogether, the total labor charge came to $1,150, or nearly three-fourths of the total pretax charge. While a small amount of this charge related to replacing some outdoor bulbs and a kitchen dimmer switch (which we noticed while they were onsite), the vast majority of the labor cost related to the single faulty outdoor zone. When we called BRE to express our displeasure with the labor charge, we received a rude response, which we found surprising in that we have been loyal customers for several years. BRE was our electrical contractor for the conversion of our 1,000+ square foot attic into three rooms and a bathroom several years ago. Over the years BRE had performed work both inside and outside the house, and we had planned to use them again next spring for a rearyard project. BRE made no attempt to reach a reasonable compromise on the labor charge or even expend an effort to help us understand the reason(s) for the apparently outsized labor charge. Instead, we were told, and quot;we have to pay our men.and quot; After pressing BRE for a more meaningful answer, the BRE representative became irritated and said and quot;pay us what you want!and quot; A few days later BRE mailed us another copy of the bill with no changes to the original bill. Although we're not electricians and can't precisely estimate how long a certain job should take, we're smart enough to recognize when a job seems to be taking too long. Most of all, we don't appreciate contractors who won't make the effort to communicate with good repeat customers in a respectful manner.

We are new to the area so I called Basking Ridge Electric based on reviews from Angie's list and proximity. They answered right away and estimated work would cost $200 - $300. I scheduled an appointment for the next day. The electrician called back a few minutes later to clarify that the price was for about 75 ft. of line. SInce he hadn't been to our house it may be more. Fair enough. The electricians arrived promptly and did the work. I asked for a bill when they left but they couldn't provide because they didn't have a cost for the wire. I received a call from the office clarifying my address to send the bill so I asked for the total, which was $558. WOW!. I was a little shocked. I asked for clarification and she said and quot;it is all right there in the bill. That wire is expensiveand quot;. So, labor was $400 and wire was $158 for about 100 ft (can't find bill to get actual measurement). I don't know if this is a fair price because I did not get multiple estimates. I wish the electrician would have stopped to talk price with me once he arrived, before doing the work. Lesson learned -- I will always ask.
I am rating a and quot;cand quot; because the price issue is a big deal. That said, the work itself was good and I felt comfortable with the electricians in my home.

They appear to be very professional and confident about their work. But inevitably, I am left with pencil marks and a few nicks where they had to shift to miss a stud. The new lights make a big improvement in the space and I am thinking it was a great investment. Yet I am irritated to find they must be kept somewhat dimmed.

Basking Ridge Electric showed up on time, performed the due diligence, and as a result I was able to ally the concerns many "do-it-yourself" friends brought to my attention on the original electricians' job.

It turned out fantastic. They are good people. They are not exorbitant in price. It worked when they were finished. We have used them before and are always satisfied.

The service was efficiently performed with interest on the part of the team assigned to job. Owner followed up on work for quality and satisfaction. Price was at the low end of the range of several quotes. I was impressed and would use the firm again.

There was no outlet in my bedroom so they had to put an outlet in the ceiling. The company is very prompt and know exactly what they are doing. They are expensive, which was a surprise but I thought they were very professional.

Very good company. Got to the work quickly and professionally. Cleaned up properly. Owner can be a little rude when you talk to him, but in the end he does what you need done.

This company was so easy to deal with. They corrected things in my house quickly and effectively. They used good time management. I think they know what they are doing and they are very polite and easy to talk to. They do want to address your needs.
