My wife and I are in the process of buying a house, we will be using a renovation loan to purchase the house. This requires us to get all the quotes up front for any renovations or fixes we would need. The home needs significant termite damage repair to nearly every sill as well as one foundation joyce. Aside from this, there is a leak from teh chimney, the furnace is 'cracked' and needs to be replaced, there is asbestos in the basement, and out cellar doors need to be replaced along with some repair needed on the steps there as well. After reading the Angies list reviews i was excited to find someone capable of most these repairs with positive feedback. I filled out the form on their website and received a call from 'Joe' (I never received a last name). We scheduled a time one week in the future so that my wife and i could be there while he goes through the house to give us an estimate of all the repairs needed. After coordinating with our real estate agent and finally getting the tenants to allow us to go through the house at that time. (the house is currently being rented) our appointment time comes and goes with no call or notification. I called the number i was told would reach Joe directly which turned out to be an office line. I asked the lady on the other end if she could contact Joe as we had an appointment. After about 15 minutes and nunmerous unanswered calls, we were told that his car broke down. They would need to reschedule. After hanging up we decided to call back and see if anyone else could meet us there or if we could speak with Joe directly and they would not answer the call. We called from another number and received an answer almost immdiately, when we explained the issue the person on the other end hung up. Im not a consperacy theorist but its a bit convenient that his car broke down, and we received notice 15 minutes after the appointment was meant to take place. Then noone could be bothered to keep our business. My advice: if you need a quote or repair within a short time frame dont fully rely on their scheduled appointment, get some back up and try to confirm the apointment directly with 'Joe'.
