The job required that the existing ground be level and David used a Bobcat to perform this work.  Large granite boulder and smaller pieces of granite were put in place to create a boarder for the patio.  Large white granite slabs were put in place for stairs.  Stone, stone dust and grass barrier were brought in before the red brick was laid down.  Once the patio was down, work began on the oven.  A hand cut form was made and place on top of the existing boulder.  Cement was poured to create the base for the oven.  A mixture of portland cement and vermiculite as laid down in the center to act as an insulation layer for the fire brick dome that would be build on top.  At this point work began on the fire brick dome.  Once completed, a red brick wall was built around the dome, filled with vermiculite and covered with an insulation blanket.  Rock veneer was then placed on the cement base and a slate roof, red brick chimney and blue slate fire spark arrestor was place on top.   The work went off without a hitch and the outcome is a work of art.  We are extremely pleased with the quality of David's work and the beauty of his design.  Please visit his blog to see pictures of his work: http://truebrickovens.blogspot.com/
