HOWEVER, in the previous years, the technician that was sent was stoned, as in glassy eyed and wreaked of marijuana, and came in chewing tobacco. He was degrading and argumentative when I asked questions. He insisted that my water must smell like rotten eggs in the morning, although it doesn't and didn't when he was here. He also reset the program on my pump so that, unknown to me, it back-washed anytime we used a specified amount of water. This meant that it would happen during the day while using tap water or flushing of toilets so that dirty water was being used and drank and resulted in staining my 2 brand new toilets.
Thankfully, he has not been sent back to my home.
On 10/30, I mentioned to Jarrod that I was pricing water pumps in order to increase water pressure into my home. Jarrod told me that Policy does this type of work and would send someone out for an estimate. On 1/8/16, I had 2 technicians come out to evaluate and estimate the job. They said that I needed a new pump, drive, wire and tank at a cost of $5540 or $6440 (depending on which HP that I chose) and that it would guarantee 25% increase in water pressure. I was ready to hire for the job when my husband suggested that I get another estimate.
Today, we had another reputable company come out to see about increasing water pressure. At first glance, he told me the pressure gauge was broken. He replaced it for $40 and then proceeded to increase the incoming water pressure from 40 psi to 70 psi on the regulator. My water pressure increased immediately!!! It cost me $200!
I'm sure that I will eventually need a newer pump but really?? Why not increase the pressure, as I had asked, and then give me the price to upgrade when mine is actually needs replacing? How could Policy even evaluate the pressure with broken gauge??
"In response to your comments on January 31, 2015; The filter technician you commented on from previous years is no longer employed at Policy. We apologize for his behavior and any inconvenience he many have caused you. On the estimate issue, it appears there was a breakdown in communication. As you stated, you mentioned to Jarredd that you were pricing water pumps and looking for an estimate to increase your pressure. Jarredd came back from the maintenance call with your signed work order #165260 and it was noted to “call customer w/ options on Pentek VFD drive system.” Jarredd did not note or communicate to us that you were experiencing low pressure. On January 8, 2016, we sent out Rick & Matt to provide you with an estimate. Your signed work order #166074 was noted, Estimate - CP System. They provided an estimate with two different options. Since it was an only estimate, there was not a charge. We did not replace the pressure gauge because we were there to provide you with an estimate to upgrade your pump system, not to repair the system. Obviously, there was a misunderstanding on what you wanted and what we actually provided. We apologize if we dropped the ball. However, please be assured we would not be in the pump & filter service business for 50 years unless we did provide service and not just upgrade systems. We installed your filter system in 2006 and have been providing you with service for 10 years, so you can validate this point. We are glad you resolved your low pressure problem and be sure to consider us when you do decide to upgrade your system."
"Hi [Member name], You are correct, we have serviced your pump system many times in the past and each and every time we recommended updating your pump system. It’s in our customer’s best interest to keep them informed of the latest in water technology which provides improved efficiency and cost savings. I apologize if you felt pressured and that is not our intention, but your pump, a deep well jet pump, is 30 years old and this technology is outdated and very inefficient. Deep well Jet pumps are installed less and less frequently and availability for the pumps and parts is getting further and further out because of their inherent disadvantages. A deep well jet pump needs two pipes down the well and utilizing a venturi. This is very energy intensive as several gallons of water can be recirculated for each gallon of water drawn from the well. Jet pumps have to have water in all these pipes in order for this process to work, as a result, the term “priming the pump”. In comparison, a submersible pump uses about half the amount of energy that a jet pump would to pump the same amount of water. The pump doesn’t have to suck or recirculate water, it doesn’t require priming, it just gets to push it up out of the well. So yes, we will always recommend to anyone, using a deep well jet pump, to seriously consider updating to a submersible pump. Sincerely, Peter"
