Hurd Home Improvement is essentially a man that works out of his house. He is very very friendly and personable. I have used him several times, including an entire new kitchen remodel. His prices are great and his work is generally okay. But, he will often try to raise the agreed upon price with some form of technicality. If you are firm, he will back down. He will constantly be late, and almost never finishes the job on time.. if you don't pay him until it is done.. eventually he will finish. However, during my closet remodel job.. He actually stole a TV I had delivered from FedEx. When it turn up missing, I called Fedex and spoke to the driver. He said he left it on the front porch and spoke to my contractor (Dave Hurd). When I called Dave he said he took it home for "safe keeping". I needed to call the police! Eventually I got my TV back... but really? I will never use him again! EVER. 
However, if you are looking for a small simple job.. maybe outside (fall cleanup or something) and YOU CAN WATCH HIM. Hurd Home Improvement may be okay. However, I would not let him inside your home or to work unsupervised due to the theft issue.
