I was out of town during the recent cold snap and a heating pipe froze. On Saturday night friends who were checking on things noticed the waterfall that was coming down the stairs. They attempted to shut off the water, but since it is an old house, the pipes are tricky to figure out - they are like works of art with each newly added pipe reflecting its plumber's unique methodology. They called Peter (a.k.a. The Furnace Man) and first he walked and talked them through which pipes should be turned off, and then came over to ensure that the rest of the house would not freeze up.
Peter has been taking care of my furnace for many years. He is honest, charges a reasonable fee, and has a great work ethic. I highly recommend him.
