What luck in finding this company! I happened to find him on the Internet and since we thought the tractor had died, we didn't think we had anything to lose by calling him. Though we were not in his service area, he came out our way while doing another job, and was willing to bring the tractor to his shop to see if he could repair it. He generally repairs large tractors, so I felt like he must know what he's doing with a small lawn and garden tractor. I was grateful that he was willing to give it a try. After he took the tractor apart, he called often to let us know what he had discovered, asked us how we wanted to proceed with the repair, and let us know how much it would cost. We thought he did his work with our pocketbook in mind so we felt he wasn't trying to overcharge us for unnecessary work. He seemed as happy as we were to get this tractor working again. One really good characteristic is that he called when he said he would call; we did not have to chase him. He is a nice, friendly, polite guy who really has a passion for repairing these machines and it shows.
Description of Work: Jim Ange (owner of Tractor Restoration Services) repaired our 20-year-old Case (Ingersoll) 224 lawn & garden tractor after we thought it had died. He diagnosed and repaired the engine with new rings, piston, valves, hoses, bore the cylinder, gasket & seal, surface head, points, plugs, condenser, and whatever else it needed to get it going. (I'm not real good with machine terminology. I'm just listing items from the itemized invoice. I think it may be that he installed a "short block??") He even found an oil leak we had been dealing with for many years and was able to repair it for about $50, though we had been told a few years ago that it would cost hundreds to get rid of that leak! It was wonderful to see that old tractor look so good when he returned it. He took all the old grease off of the body of it, and spruced up everything under the hood. He even picked-up and returned the tractor since we had no way to get it to him.
