At the recommendation of our Norfolk kitchen design consultant (Maryann), and after consulting with previous customers of her recommended contractor (Francis Hebb Construction, Boxford, MA), we hired him to to do the work.
Work commenced in early March, 2016, and was completed on/about end of June, 2016, and consisted of a nearly completely gut/rebuilding of our kitchen space, including electrical, plumbing, painting, floor (including an adjoining hall and foyer floor), ceiling, walls, removal of existing closet space, closing off a study entry, and another smaller closet, and expanding an adjacent hallway closet to re-utilize that space.
Additionally, the original tile floor floor was stripped to the subfloor in all project areas. I should note that we had originally planned to use another cabinet company out of Nashua that we had been consulting with, but who came in WAY overpriced for this exact same project ($160,000 initially projected, and you know that's only a starting point).
After redoing electric and plumbing, walls and ceilings were redone before cabinets were then installed. The detail work done by the finish carpenter was METICULOUS and time consuming (which added to the project completion time), but I'll take that over faster non -quality work any day. Additionally, there was some minor additional repair work needing to be completed which added to the scope of the project (small amount of moisture at the rear door), a bay window that needed to be re-levelled, and plywood sheathing repair at the front entry due to previous (but long repaired) water damage, but minor in cost. The tile contractor did a great job with our foyer/hall/kitchen floor and backsplash.
The cabinets from Norfolk Kitchen, are all soft-closing, detailed, sturdy, quality grade, American made cabinets with dentil crown, and fluting throughout as we weren't inclined to settle for anything less than the best. The tile floor consists of 12X24 tile in the hall/foyer area, and faux wood tile in the kitchen area (total floor space ~ 600 sq ft). The finished space consists of a sit down/mudroom space, pantries, floor to ceiling wet bar, 5' buffet, 5' island, appliance cabinet, and counter height kitchen table. Appliances are all stainless steel JennAir appliances including built-in oven, induction cooktop, microwave drawer, counter-depth side by side refrigerator, and dishwasher and trash compactor with cabinet faces. All counter space is Cambria (192 linear feet), and the backslash is subway tile with accent pieces throughout. All in all, we wanted and had it all!
