I had a major water flood disaster in my kitchen [punctured ice-maker-hose] that destroyed my hardwood floor and leaked through to the ceiling below damaging the ceiling, walls, backsplash, and countertops to my second kitchen below. The insurance company sent a recovery crew to dry out the floor, ceiling and walls; mold had set-in due to the hot & humid July 2022 temperatures. My insurance company recommended I continue with the recovery company to have my property restored but they were booked 6 weeks-out! I have a frail elderly mother that lives with me, I needed my kitchen back ASAP. John Ryan Construction came highly recommended by a friend. John personally came out to assess the work and by weeks end his crew was working on restoring my kitchen(s). John's crew found mold on the backs of the cabinets that the recovery company missed. His crew used Micro-band to clear the mold from the back of the cabinets. My kitchens are fairly new, 2018 & 2020. However, John's crew found several short-cuts in the installation of my kitchens that his crew corrected. John has a complete crew of highly skilled professionals: carpentry, electrical, flooring, granite-counter-install, plasterers, tile-work... I was blown away by his crew! They worked efficiently and conscientiously to complete the job, showing up on time and cleaning up at the end of each day. My kitchens are restored to better than what they were before the flood! John Ryan Construction was able to work with the budget set by my insurance company's claim. In 3-weeks-time John's crew had my kitchens back to new...I am so grateful to John and his crew!

He did a small job so I can’t give him a full review but he was professional and I will hire him again.

Told me it would be 2-4 weeks, it was 2-4 months. Sub-contracted main roof and left the roof on the addition to be completed at a later time, which was weeks after the main roof was complete. The addition roof flashing had to re-done and he did the addition roof over the course of 2 weeks, including leaving the roof exposed to the elements over night. The trash is still in a dumpster that has been sitting at my house for weeks because he has not paid the company. I would not recommend this contractor to my worst enemy.
Response from John Ryan
"The job was started 6 weeks after the contract was signed and was delayed because of the weather (snow). The main roof was not sub-contracted, it was completed by my older son and two employees. The dumpster was paid in full prior to its delivery to the site, the problem was the customer and his friend were trying to remodel certain sections of the house and utilized our dumpster that was supposed to only contain asphalt shingles for recycling purposes. Our original contract was for the main house, he negotiated the side addition after the main house was completed and we had to come back to complete it."

I had water leaking in my house onto my new cabinets and marble countertops. They showed up within 30 minutes after I called them and solved the problem. They literally saved me thousands of dollars in damage to my new kitchen. Wonderful experience with this company!

I need to have a ridge vent installed. Ryan came out and explained to me that I already had a ridge vent installed. He was very honest and saved me a lot of money!

The job was performed much later than origanlly contracted for. The job included a new roof and new wooden gutters. Because the job was so late we had our painters perform the work on the guitters and informed Ryan by phone of our decision. Several weeks later after Ryan installed the roof, they claimed violation of contract on the gutters and have refused to return a $600 payment that would have went toward the gutters.

No leaks yet... Just kidding, they did a great job. I would recommend them to my friends. The bid was clear, detailed and precise. The work was good, the proof is in the pudding. We'll see in a couple of years how their job will hold up, and I am confident that it will. I would Give them a call again without hesitation.

Work done was shoddy and required numerous returns for correction. Carelessness resulted in damage to property. Very unresponsive to requests for repair of failed roof integrity.

Did a good job in general. The new shingles look sharp. Minor caveats: Explicitly mention that you'd like ridge vents cut, if you so desire them. More rotted/missing sheathing could have been replaced.

Our original rep had some communication issues. Once we had a new contact (previous one had "moved on" to another job somewhere) communication was excellent the rest of the way. The work was well done, and the workers were excellent craftsmen and good people. We would use this company again, and recommend them to anyone in need of a good roofer/roofing experience.

I was very pleased with all of the candidates that Servicemagic recommended. Prices were all in the same ballpark. I selected the contractor that I thought could complete the job the fastest.

I signed a contract on Nov 3 to replace roof and two attic windows. I was told the work would start within 30 days. Work on the roof started Dec 28 - roof came out very nice. Problems I reported to Ryans: gutters not cleaned and contained debris from old roof, a window screen was damaged, the vent pipe that was removed was not replaced and the installers put a hole in a small rubber roof that was not part of the contract. Ryans has not taken action to correct these problems. Replacement windows have not been installed and they have not responded to my request for a date when they will be completed.

We hired Ryan Contracting and Roofing on September 21 2004 to replace rubber cover on our flat roof. The job did not start, and we hope it will be completed during Spring 2005.
