Got a flat tire on the highway and pulled off to get help, not only bad attitude with the agents at desk but they said it could be fixed sometime in the next 24 hours. I explained that I am on a road trip and need to be in gouldsboro Maine for 8:00 pm tonight which is is a 260 mile drive up and then back. They also refused to sell me a new tire and I could get the other one fixed when I get back . So here I am sitting in Sullivan Tire parking lot in Portsmouth NH waiting for AAA since they refused to help a female in need.

Discombobulated & unorganized. I was quoted one price on the phone, then told another price once I got to the shop. The service folks called me three times during the work day to ask me questions and I finally had to drive over to the shop to help them and still could not pick up my car till later. I hate to leave negative reviews but my experience was frustrating, to say the least.

First of all, I went to Sullivan Tire in Newington, NH to have the tires
rotated. I asked them to take a look at the back brakes because I was
hearing a shuddering, scraping noise when I applied the brakes. Later
that day they called and said that they had found that the muffler was
so rusted out that they would have replace the entire muffler system.
Additionally the brakes were badly worn (down to to 2 mm), the rotors
were rusty and they had their doubts about the emergency brakes, so they
would need to be replaced too. Estimate $1,937.77! ! ! ! Egad! However, because I had purchased the tires at Sullivan they did rotate them for free. This is the ONLY reason I did not give them a straight F rating.
I called around a bit, but remembered that I had taken previous cars to
Munro in Somersworth with very satisfactory results. I called and made
an appointment. Half an hour later, Munro called me to tell me that
there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the brakes, I had plenty of pad
thickness on all four wheels (between 8 or 9 mm). In fact, David, the
friendly, velvet voiced, never ruffled manager said that the rear brakes
looked brand new. He went on to say that they could weld a pipe
between the first section of the muffler system and the actual muffler
assemblage at the back of the car, and it would be just fine. There was
no rust on those parts, except just where it had broken. That was done
in two more hours. Total cost: $218.
I will return for service at Munro from now on. I shall never darken the doorway of Sullivan Tires ever again.

They're very good. All the other services are included because I have a lifetime alignment and all that kind of thing. So I don't need to pay for all the several hundred dollar stuff that I had done. There are a lot of coupons and good sales for prices. So they're doing good there.

I scheduled the appointment online using their appointment website form. I requested everything I needed and picked a service date. An estimate of services was listed when I finished inputting the items I needed. I received a follow-up email pretty quickly confirming the date and time I picked. I received a phone call the day before letting me know that my tires would not be until around 10-10:30 and said I could come in closer to that time-frame instead of the 9:00 time I had picked. I arrived and my tires were ready. Instead of waiting in the waiting area, I walked next door to a store and wandered around. During that time I received a call from Sullivan Tire saying one of my TPMS sensors was broken. I am not fully convinced that it was not broken during the removal of the tire as I had no dashboard light indicating a problem prior to my arrival but I did not argue the situation. They did not have one to replace and they are over $100 each so I postponed until a future visit. My TMPS light is now on 24/7 until the rubber stem is replaced with a new TPMS. I chose to pay for a road hazard service agreement and a lifetime alignment service agreement on my new set of tires. Since I will be going to this station a couple of times per year for maintenance, I chose not to cause any disagreements over the sensor. The customer service people were attentive and helpful. I decided to pay for services by applying for a Goodyear credit card so I could get $180 back in rebates on these particular tires. The gentlemen I had been working with did not know how to do this but quickly passed me onto the manager who took care of me in less than 10 minutes (waiting for credit approval, etc.). Once home a few days later I noticed that I was charged $20 for tire disposal when I took the old tires home with me. I called and spoke to the manager who apologized and said if I came in with the credit card they would credit me. Once I received the new card I dropped in and a credit was made. All in a all, Sullivan Tire was friendly and helpful with all my requests prior to, during and after the appointment. The waiting area is well kept. A television was on the entire time on one station. There are magazines and a water and beverage station (coffee). I did sit in this area comfortably while waiting for the remainder of time for my vehicle's service to be completed. They also offer wi-fi and a shuttle service, neither of which I used on this occasion.

Overall it went well. They took my car in promptly. The service desk personnel were very pleasant and efficient. I waited the usual length of time. The car passed inspection no problem. However, last year and again this year, I heard the same phrase used..."it will pass this time but probably not next year." Last year it was about tires...this year it was about struts. My car only has 46,000 miles on it, and it is hard to believe the struts need replacing. The estimate given to me was $800. I deferred. I used to be very confident in what the guys at Sullivan Tire told me. Now, some doubt is there. They are beginning to sound like the rest. You know what I mean, ladies...they tell us that there is something major that needs to be done.

We have been doing business with Sullivan Tire in Newington (Gosling Rd) for years because they have always treated us fairly. If you feel that you have been ripped off by your auto repair provider, give the folks at Sullivan Tire a try. They are honest and reasonable. They stand by their products and their work.
