This was the cheapest furniture and it fell apart after a month.  No luck getting calls returned.  Really horrible attitudes.

Our original experience was good. We went to Allen because we knew Bill, and preferred to support a local business rather than a chain. We chose a fairly firm mattress, paid cash, and had it delivered very promptly. The mattress seemed to break in a bit more than we anticipated, but we neglected to trust our initial instincts. After owning and sleeping on the bed for six months, it became clear that there were more issues than just an accelerated break in. It appeared as though the coil springs were prematurely fatiguing which resulted in large depressions despite rotating the mattress according to the manufacturer's recommendations. The net result of these depressions was extreme back pain from sleeping in a lumpy bowl. My boyfriend could no longer sleep on it without experiencing severe back spasms (he never had back problems before), and subsequently has slept on our $400 pleather couch for the past 5 months instead. Realizing that this was a situation we desperately needed to resolve, we took some photos and approached Bill at Allen. He told us that although the bed was not under warranty he would do what he could and if we could take some pictures using a suitable straight edge to better reveal the failure, he would show the manufacturer to try to get us a better deal. We returned the next day with the requested photos, and were promptly intercepted by Bill's uncle who actually runs the business and can be seen in all of their commercials. After hardly a glance at the proof we furnished, he quickly proceeded to treat us as though we just didn't like the bed or didn't understand the nature/ construction of the product we had purchased. Further, he acted as though we were solely interested in leveraging our friendship/ acquaintance with Bill to get some sort of a handout. He minimized our issues, suggesting our legitimate complaints with a malfunctioning product were simply petty dissatisfaction with a lower-end line of products. His solution was to "eat" our mattress (so generous) so long as we purchased a much more expensive, higher quality replacement on the spot to the tune of an additional $660. When the request was made to take a raincheck (we didn't have $660 in our back pocket having just had a new baby), we were told he would never put an offer like that in writing. It was very clear that his priority was to up-sell us and would break out all the sales techniques he had to do so. We approached the situation from a very reasonable place, not expecting much, already agreeing on two twins instead of our king if that would be cheaper for Bill. What we received in return (after being led to believe there was a possible fair outcome) were no more than the sales tactics of a bargain furniture salesman and a preference for protecting the bottom line over customer service. Unfortunately, Bill was not in a position to honor his stance. As a result, we opted to walk out of the store, and will not return.
