M.P.D HVAC

We remodeled our old home from a summer residence to a year-round one.  We also added a substantial amount of square footage during the project.  In doing this, we needed to find someone who would build a complete heating and cooling system that was affordable and economical to operate.  We acted as our own general contractor for this project so it was up to us to find a contractor. 

We found Mike at MPD HVAC via the internet.  In addition to MPD HVAC, we spoke with 7 contractors including area leading energy providers.  After receiving ballpark estimates, written estimates and a couple of whatever you want; it was clear we should select Mike's proposal.  He struck the right combination of listening to our needs and wants and balanced them with an excellent price; one fair to both himself and us as customers. 

Mike designed our HVAC system from the ground up starting with a true energy audit accounting for levels of insulation, windows, etc.  He asked questions about what kind of heat we were looking for and with his knowledge we selected an oil fired boiler capable of multiple zones and high efficiency that combined radiant heat, forced hot air and domestic hot water..  I watched carefully how Mike constructed and installed ductwork throughout the home and he is a master tin worker.  He worked quickly, was on-time and on budget, and always worked effectively with other subs on the job.  He accurately sized equipment to handle our needs but not exceed them which helps make them less costly to run.  In fact, our now new home is 1.5 times the size of our previous 20 year old home and our energy usage (oil, propane, electric) is 75% of our previous home.

Mike was always there as a sounding board and gave us options the entire way to help us balance cost with operational efficiency.  He also pitched in and built ductwork for dryer and range hood venting.  He helped us with running propane where needed (stove top, dryer, fireplace, outdoor grill) all extras from the original bid.  All times with better pricing than other subs and delivered quickly upon request.  Even when other subs held up his ability to finish his part of the project, Mike worked to accommodate; something this first time G.C. really appreciated.

We couldn't be more pleased with the results.  Our home HVAC is quiet, efficient, effective and economical to operate.  All our goals met with his fine work.  I will also add that he services and maintains our HVAC system with the same professionalism as the installation.  Rare to find this kind of ability combined with work ethic.
