Visual Changes

This was a project of both choice and necessity. My house had needed at least new exterior paint for the past year or so, but many people in the community had told me in the five years since I bought the house that it has never kept a paint job. I also knew that I likely had water damage in a few areas. So, I decided a few years ago that I would have it sided with vinyl when I could afford it. I received several estimates at that time and none of them made me comfortable in terms of price, the quality of the work to be done, and/or my interaction with the contractor himself. Ultimately, I chose Visual Changes for this project because I used it to replace my roof 18 months beforehand. My experience then and again in this instance was excellent. The owner, John, has always been great at communicating with me regarding costs, my concerns, and various issues that come up when undertaking a home improvement project. He exhibits great attention to detail and craftsmanship. I also have always had a strong impression that he is honest and wants to do right by his customers. Although the cost from Visual Changes was not the lowest, it was not the most expensive and I definitely believe that I received my money's worth. My wife and I are very happy with how things turned out and we've gotten many compliments on our house's appearance. More importantly for me, I'm not worrying about hidden problems any longer and I'm confident that the improvements that were made will prove their value for many years to come.

John has been fantastic. He was incredibly responsive and punctual from start to finish. Every commitment that John made, John met. John has been by far the best roofing contractor - and we've worked with a few. We have been so delighted with John, that we will definitely use his services again for other work. Here are all the specifics from start to finish: he showed up the next day at the agreed time to inspect the job (yes punctual and fast!). He had a full and professional estimate to us within 2 business days. He took the time to explain all the items in the estimate. He was completely honest with us about other work that needed to complete before our job. Please remember, roofing is dependent on weather. John gave us a realistic time frame for when the work would commence. John kept us informed of changes due to weather, and John started the work within the estimated time frame. John & his team did an excellent job - they kept the site neat and clean - free of debris. They completed the work quickly and beautifully. The price for the work came in at exactly the estimated price - no surprises.

The existing roof was in poor shape and included at least two layers of asphalt shingles. One side of the house had tired aluminum gutters while the other side had cheap vinyl ones that included a design flaw in the way the downspouts were run. In addition, the flashing near the chimney was leaking. Because of this, and after we had done some other exterior improvements of late, we decided to have our roof replaced prior to the onset of winter. John Meibaum, the owner of the company, was highly recommended to us by a friend. After I called him, he came out to the house to prepare an estimate within 48 hours. John then sent me an itemized written estimate via email which looked professional and was very thorough. He also spent at least 30 minutes answering all of my questions. This was in stark contrast to an estimate I received for some repair work a few years previously. Once Visual Changes came to start the project, the workers were at the house every day weather permitting until the job was done. They did a good job keeping the area tidy at the end of each day and there was little debris left over at the end of the job (e.g., some small pieces of broken shingle in the bushes and an occasional stray roofing nail). John, the owner, was on-site every day, worked alongside his employees, and was available for questions. He also did a good job of keeping me apprised of the project's progress. Overall, the work turned out great and I'm very happy with both the performance and the appearance of our new roof. I highly recommend Visual Changes for any roofing project.
