The Service Manager (Dave?) that came out to scope out the job and put together the estimate was great. I went into this thinking that I needed to add a sub-panel to provide capacity for more circuits but he pointed out that I could upgrade my existing panel from a 20-circuite panel to a 40-circuit panel and achieve the same goal for a similar cost and in a more elegant fashion. He was very patient and responsive in the days following as I revised the scope of the work (size of the circuits in the garage). So the front-end of the experience was very positive. When the two-person crew showed up to do the work, they left a bit to be desired. As far as the panel replacement went, I was very happy with that. They pulled the meter and had the old panel out and the new panel in in a relatively short amount of time considering the amount of work involved. Part of the job that we had planned was to enclose some wires that go out to my pool pump in conduit to meet code. When they were originally installed, conduit was used for all but the last few feet to the panel. The plan was to enclose that last few feet during the panel replacement because it would be very easy with all of the wires detached. However when I went down to check on things I saw them cutting those wires and installing a junction box. From there they ran two separate romex cables to the panel. This wasn't what I asked for and it looked "klugey". When I asked him about it he said they brought the wrong type of conduit with them so they decided to go this route instead. I told him I didn't like it and found it confusing and he just got defensive. In the garage I watched them running the wire for my two new outlets and at one point he caught the ladder (my ladder that he was using btw) on a clamp that I had attached my pool timer box. In his haste to get things done, he pulled h****** the ladder and ripped my box right off the wall taking a chunk of drywall with it. I didn't say anything right away and instead waited until they were wrapping up and asked him if he was going to fix the box that they ripped off the wall. He said they already did and then, to my amazement, he blamed me for it! He said I shouldn't have had "so much stuff stacked on top of it" and that's what caused it to "fall off the wall." Then I told him that I saw it happen and he still didn't take ownership of his mistake, instead he blamed it on the other guy that was with him! I was furious at this point and didn't want to deal with them anymore. I just wanted them to leave. They did re-attach the pool timer to the wall, but it's not as secure as it used to be and there's still a missing chunk of drywall there. While some of the work they did was great, their professionalism was seriously lacking. In fairness, I did not go out of my way to contact the Service Manager to complain, but he didn't follow up with me afterwards either. Maybe they would have taken steps to rectify the situation afterwards had I given them the chance.
