The removal and install went fine with out significant delays or unforeseen expenses. When we turned on the AC, in the summer of 2009, we did not get any cold air and called Scott. He came down and checked the unit and stated someone had opened the valves and drained the Puron. He also insinuated that we must of had another vendor work on the system and they perhaps they drained the gas out. When I followed up with Scott. I told him this was not the case and asked if he would come fix\recharge the system, at my expense. He said he would get back to me but never did. At this point, we did need the AC working and contacted another vendor who charged the system at a cost of almost $900. The new vendor advised us that the system had not been installed properly and that is why the AC was not working. The new vendor explained the cooling line connections Scott installed were soldered. But the Puron gas, in the new system was under much higher pressure than conventional coolants. This being the case, the connections should have been "brazed" and not soldered. Brazing formed a stronger seal, whereas soldering could leak under the higher pressure. It was likely the Puron was leaking at one of the soldered junctions. Not knowing where the leak might be, we simply had the system recharged and hoped for the best. In the spring of 2010, when we tried starting up the cooling system, again it would not come on. We left Scott several messages but did not receive a response. We then contacted our secondary vendor, who came out and told us the same story as the previous year. The coolant must be leaking from a soldered connection. They offered to reinstall the coolings lines at a cost of just under $2000. We agreed, not wanting to recharge the system each year.
Description of Work: Scott specked and installed a new high efficiency gas furnace and AC condenser after removing two older gas furnaces\ACs. He also did some ductwork, installed new dampers and new thermostats. The new system was Carriers best, most efficient system. The new unit used Puron in place of conventional gasses, in order to achieve 95% efficiency.
