"Thanks for the kind words. Rerouting that overflow will make your whole basement healthier."
Hot water is now clearer. I will use them to clean and replace filter in aqua filter machine in the next week.
In November 2013, my horse was getting diarrhea from my water. It went away if I got water from elsewhere and came back if I used my well water. I did lots of water testing at the New Hampshire State Lab that was coming up with no possible reason. In March of 2014 I went to another water filter company, they also tested, said the problem was manganese and I had a water softener installed, still couldn't drink the water without illness. They retested and couldn't find anything wrong with the water. I called Aqua Specialties in July 2014, Chris replaced the well cap and did additional testing for radon and sulfates that came back at low 'safe' levels. At that point he had no more recommendations but remained available for help.
I felt the only thing left to do was dig up to the connections and see if there was a leak somewhere that could be leeching something into my drinking water. My well supply was not showing any obvious signs of leaking but it was the only possibility left so I hand dug the trench from the well to the house and found leaking at the well casing connection to the pitless adaptor and also an old underground pressure tank from 1974 when there was a mobile home at this site. My water was pooling at the connection but the dirt was so dense that it stopped there so my pump was not continuously running.
I called Chris and told him what I had found, Mark Hill, his technician was here within a couple hours. Mark was super professional, highly respectful of my precious water supply wearing clean gloves around the hoses that my water would be coming through. Mark was far more fussy about the quality of the work than I could have ever been. After 10 months of hauling drinking water for me and my horse (at least 10 gallons a day's worth) I'm very fussy and protective of my water supply, so that's saying a lot about the high quality workmanship of Aqua Specialties. Chris Kofer is extremely knowledgeable and yet still has the integrity to say he has no more answers when he's stumped. Before I uncovered the leak he remained supportive but did not take advantage of the situation to sell me things that I didn't need. I have great respect for him. My situation was unique, everyone I talked to told me I did not have a leak because my well pump didn't keep turning on when I wasn't using the water and there were no puddles near the well head. The excavator people I tried to hire told me I was wasting my time to dig. Chris could have been indignant about being told that there was indeed a leak but he was not. He was kind, professional and responsive. Chris and Mark are number 1 in my book and I highly recommend them for any problem you may have with your water supply. It's rare to find such high quality workmanship these days.
After doing one last bleach shocking of the well, I am very happy to report that my water is superb. I am absolutely delighted to be able to drink from the tap and feel very confident that the job was done right!
