August: Tom (the "auditor") came to check out the house. It had already been audited by previous owners so it was quick (but still $100). He was able to tell us about some good programs for financing.
September: We scheduled the work. Amber, the receptionist, was very accommodating.
October: Just waiting.
November: The work started. The first team was frequently late, took a lot of breaks, and was very very slow. They stayed two days. At least they were nice. The next team got worse and worse every day. One guy seemed ok; the other seemed hungover the whole time. They tracked dirt all over the house and did not follow lead-safe practices at all. They also seemed to take a lot of breaks. Then one guy threw up in my driveway. SERIOUSLY displeased. I called Tom and he sent a third team. They were better and I wish we'd had them the whole time.
January: Finally done. Tom did the final audit, but it didn't look so good. The first day the blower door read 7000 and he was shooting for 3500 in our house. The final audit read 6000. So $10,000, 4 weeks of my life, a bunch of hassle and cleaning, damaged siding, a basement full of foam, and it only saves us a little bit on heating. Not pleased.
