Having Home Depot/PM Mackay install my kitchen was a mistake.  The saga of what happened is long and winding, but I?ll summarize it as quickly as possible here.  Let me preface this by saying that I am not a contractor and know little to nothing about home improvement.  That?s why I hired professionals.
The subcontractor they used, PM Mackay, was irresponsible and negligent.  Home Depot knows this because they don?t use them anymore.  The project lead had health issues at the start and no one ever came to the house again in a supervisory role.  There was no oversight for the entirety of my project.
After the demo was done on the kitchen, I noticed what looked like mold in the corner, but was told I wouldn?t need to worry about it as it was an old issue by the looks of it.  For some reason I trusted that this subcontractor gave a crap about my house or pregnant wife and future child.  I even have an email to the construction worker indicating that I had brought up ?the damage? to the interim lead on multiple occasions.
A year later, I smell mildew coming from the corner cabinet and call Home Depot.  I get the usual run around and have to call multiple times to get any help.  Once getting help I was momentarily pleased.  They appeared to be giving me ?white glove? treatment.  Little did I know this would end in a complete failure to follow through. They sent out a plumber who appeared to be committed to diagnosing the issue.  First he wiped down the mildew accumulating on the cabinets and suggested that it might be leftover moisture from before installation.  Hard to believe, but it was at least a step in resolving the issue.  He also cut a hole in the cupboard to further analyse the issue.  I guess he didn?t see anything useful, because he left and told me to call back if the mildew came back.
Another year later, after the long winter, the smell comes back and is worse than ever.  It looks like the hole he made had broken open and whatever issue was there was still as bad as ever.  THIS IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING!  I call Home Depot and they don?t have records of my issue.  I have to fight over a series of phone calls to get them to admit that someone came to my house.  Keep in mind there is physical evidence of them coming as I?m not in the habit of cutting holes in my kitchen cabinets for no reason.  Nevertheless, they argue with me and have to escalate my case which takes two months or so only to have a regional manager come to my house, assess the situation and tell me that it isn?t their problem as the mold was pre existing issue and they did their work properly.  While this is technically true, I supplied him with the photo and email evidence that I had brought up the damage at the time of installation and was promptly ignored.
This blatant proof of negligence has had no effect on the Home Depot regional manager here in Massachusetts.  I explained to him that I was concerned about the health of my two year old and that they should at least help me with the repairs needed to fix it.  He told me in a cordial manner to essentially ?f*** myself? and look elsewhere.  I spoke to my lawyer and he said that the case would cost a lot of money, time and energy and that there still wouldn?t be a great chance of winning.  I don?t have a lot of time. money or energy to spend on this right now, but if anyone knows a lawyer who would take my case on a contingency basis, I?d consider pursuing it.  Just another case of the man s******* on the little guy.  That?s the power of the home depot I guess?.
Hey [OMITTED],I just had some quick questions.  Regarding the closet work we discussed. Do you do carpets as well or know anyone who does? We just don't think we'll have the time between now and when we go on vacation to get it done and we would like the closet done ASAP.Question 2: I called Pete regarding this, but then immediately asked myself why I didn't just call you. When installing the cabinets, did you notice that the damage in the corner extended above the counter top line? We don't know how serious this actually is and wondered if we could just spackle over it once the counters are in or whether it needs to be handled now. I'm attaching a picture to this email in case you don't know what I'm talking about. Thanks for all your help and feel free to call me if you'd prefer to respond that way.[OMITTED]-----------------------------
Here?s the email transcript where I clearly allude to the damage being visible under the sightline here from before the install and my tone indicated that I had been pacified as to the severity of the issue.  Trust me though, the mold was plainly visible.
I don?t expect anything to come of this as I?m sure my evidence here isn?t strong enough to take on the big bad HD, but just know that if you do business with a company like this it behooves you to document everything and have some experience with home improvement as now I?m stuck with a kitchen that reeks of mold and mildew and and a small child running around in it.  I?ll have to come out of pocket for these repairs and who knows what damage is being done to the new cabinets and my family?s health.

They started doing the job in mid July and finished it up about six weeks later. The work was done adequately. Their price was a little on the high side but I got much higher estimates from other people. It took them too long to do the work because they were not putting full eight hours of time into doing it each day. They were only staying maybe six hours a day or less.

They did work for me a year ago.  I have used them on other commercial properties as well and they are just very consistent with their pricing.  The gentleman that runs the electrical division is just a straight shooter.  He is an honest guy and you can trust him.

He was well versed with intricacies of those issues. He finished the job in time. In the end he was reasonable in charging me an hour. I highly recommend him

We just bought a 1963 house and need to have the electrical updated to code. PM MacKay arrived on time for the estimate, and Dennis Aiken came back with a very thorough proposal to do the work in stages (due to the amount of work needed and expense). He explained what was really important and what was just a recommendation, and we could choose what to do and when based on how it was segmented out. When they actually did the work, two electricians came. They were very professional but friendly, and they kept everything neat and organized while they did the work. I was very pleased with how they informed me of the status as they went and how clean everything was when they left. Dennis also stopped in during the job to let me know what the next steps were going to be (as the electric company would need to come and do some work after the fact as well...which PM MacKay would organize for me), and he followed up after the job to schedule this with me. The electrical division at PM MacKay is very responsible and professional, and based on this, I will likely try their other divisions for other work on our house, too.

McKay Electric was a very dependable and responsive company to work with. The man came on time and was very professional and informative. He gave me good advice. I can't remember what he charged for this, but I remember thinking the work quality was worth the price.
