Andy is a true high-quality professional, a cut above the rest.

We found Andy to be very knowledgeable and professional: he spent time discussing the possibilities of repairing the porch, what could be done and what could not be done. He was very helpful and made excellent suggestions. He is very personable and we found his work to be of the highest quality. We particularly liked that he was able to refer us to other professional services for things we need. He also looked over the house and showed us what needs to be done in the short, medium and long terms, which was very valuable advice indeed. Overall, we are delighted with his work and will continue to use his services. He knows what he is doing and he does it well. Because his work is of such good quality, he is in high demand and we had to wait a bit until he could start on our jobs but the wait was well worth it.

The house was originally built as a summer camp in 1945 on piers with 2x4 exterior walls and a large fieldstone fireplace. Sometime in the early 1990s an alpine roof was constructed over the original roof. A few years ago I added a foundation under the existing house and added a small addition (also with a foundation). The new radiant floor heating is great in the new section, but it is difficult to keep the existing house feeling warm. To figure out the materials used in the walls and roof so I could identify and prioritize the steps needed to mitigate the problem, I called Andy. (He had installed a storm door for me about a year ago, so I knew his work.) He explained and showed me what he found, and he suggested we take photos to go with the drawings. He drew two details--one of the wall and one of the roof construction and faxed these to the engineer the following day. When I talked with the engineer, he was very complimentary of the sketches, said that they were exactly what he needed and said they were drawn as he would have drawn them. Since Andy completed this work, I have spoken with him twice. He always returns his calls, shows up when he says he will, and approaches the task meticulously. I will have him back to do more work.
