Four, and sometime, five guys spent all day prepping the surface before a single paver was put down. They removed the loam and dirt, and then ran a heavy-duty plate compactor over the ground. Put down a layer of processed rock/ sand mix, compacted it. Put down another layer of rock/sand mix, compacted it. Put down a layer of stone dust, screed it, compacted it. Another layer of stone dust and another scree. Day two, putting down the pavers. Constantly checking for square and seam alignment across the patio. Day three, cutting pavers to fit tightly around wood beams, edging and poly sand, and another pass with a light weight plate compactor to work in the poly sand. Another sweeping of poly sand.
They completely cleaned up the mess made by the construction equipment and re-seeded grass areas tore up by heavy equipment. I think they left the yard in better shape than before they started.
The finished product is awesome and I know it will last a long, long time.

We couldn't be happier with how it turned out and the job they did. They were here about 7 days. When they left each day the job site was left in great condition. They were very meticulous in how the did the job and the workmanship shows.

The project began with a sophisticated and detailed landscape design from a landscape architect and then a proposal from Dupont. Then there was tear down of old poured retaining walls which were falling down, removal of a stump, old bushes, and old trees. Then, land was re-graded to lower it about 2 feet, new block retaining walls were erected, granite steps and stone walkways were installed, numerous new plants were installed, an irrigation system was installed, and a new lawn was installed by hydroseeding.
Along the way, Dave Dupont personally oversaw all the operations, and made helpful suggestions as well.
The cost came out in the end just as stated on the original proposal (plus the cost of a few extras we added in that weren't in the proposal). Dave always did what he said he would do, and he always showed up when he said he would. He hired outstanding subcontractors (for demolition, irrigation, and plumbing) who also did a superb job. He also has a very cheerful, positive attitude, and is sincerely interested in making the project look terrific.
We are VERY PLEASED with the much improved appearance of our land and house. It is hard to believe how nice it now looks.
