Bourque Construction

There is an active legal claim, some information has been omitted, but will be provided once claims have finished. I do not recommend Joseph “Joe” Bourque of Bourque Construction. Save yourself the hassle and nightmare! I began my search early spring for a contractor to do an addition. As a disabled veteran, budget was important, as was time. Joe Bourque of Bourque Construction was highly recommended to me by a contractor and fellow veteran. Since he didn’t do additions, he recommended Bourque. I hired Joe Bourque of Bourque Construction to complete a handicap compliant addition. First and foremost, he knew time was a factor over money. His bid came in mid-range of other quotes, everything seemed legit, permits pulled, etc. the finished product was to be completed by mid September. There seemed to be issues almost immediately after the materials were delivered. Delays with the crew, not showing up, materials left around scattered, and lack of communication. I would hear one story from him, and another from the subs on where he was and what was going on. False promises, and unprofessionalism appeared to be the new norm. It became apparent he was working 2 job sites and he wasn’t able to properly address concerns I had at mine. This was recently confirmed, with the details nearly the same. I started messaging and texting him, along with the guy who recommended him, and I would get more empty promises, said he would show up, and then not, and then had a sub, etc. this went on for months, and significantly impacted my lifestyle (amongst other things) with having to be there, and then no one showing up. Come December, nearly three months past the deadline, materials still scattered, staging still attached, along with other multiple issues that weren’t addressed, I had no choice but to get an attorney involved. To this day, he has avoided following up with both myself and the attorney, and has told the mutual contractor he’s having his attorney handle it- yet refuses to reply despite reading the messages.

Joe is a fairly responsive and professional worker. I chose him to replace a small flat roof on an apartment building that I purchased as he had done work on the building for the previous owner. As a condition of the sale of the building in September 2011 the seller/previous owner had chosen Joe to replace the other two roof areas on the building - one peaked and another flat roof that had been identified as having issues. I therefore chose Joe to do the work replacing the small flat roof section when leaks occurred about a month after the purchase of the building. Unfortunately, 14 months later, there were leaks in multiple areas of the roof. During the removal process of the old (well, 14 month old) roof material, my new contractor found a number of places where holes and rotted wood had been shingled over by Bourque Construction. The leaks created damage to the interior of the building which is now being repaired as well. I have spent over $10,000 replacing all three roof areas and doing the interior repair work. Joe offered no feedback when shown pictures of the holes & rotted wood. I can not recommend Bourque Construction as a roofer.

He is very responsible and can handle a lot of different issues. He has worked construction and property management so he is very knowledgeable. He is very professional and a good communicator until he stopped working for us without notice.
