Bill Trombly Plumbing Heating Cooling Electric

I called Bill Trombly on a Friday night because my hot water heater stopped working.  I started to pull the thermal coupling out to see if that was the issue.  As soon as I pulled the unit, I realized I had never seen anything like this unit before and called for help.  The representative walked in and looked at the unit and said he couldn't do anything.  He then charged me $125.00 for the trip.  The following Monday I received a phone call from the office and they quoted me over $400 to fix the burner unit (which included the burner, thermal coupling, pilot, and igniter.  I thought this seemed high and called the hot water heater company direct and was able to obtain a new part for $119.  It took me 16 minutes to change it out and put the new one in.  I understand companies need to make money, but that much for something that would have taken them less than 16 minutes is unbelievable.  

Once they got here, service was performed professionally. The service tech gave good advice about what we did and did not need, which is hard to come by these days. I wish they would extend their service hours to meet my schedule, however. Our boiler was repaired correctly and we setup a service plan.

Everything went well accept that the final dressing of the control cables and water supply to the humidifier could have been a little neater. But, overall I think they did a good job at a fair price.

We received a quote of $350, after the second day we were handed a bill for $830. The demo work was real shoddy, they attacked the cast iron with a framing hammer. I hired them because they needed to cut a section of cast iron near where the main drain goes through the cement exterior wall. I would have done the demo myself if it were in a different area. They showed up late and that cased a problem because I had the company that was cutting the cement wall waiting. They broke the pipe with a framing hammer sending cast iron shads everywhere, I am still finding them. The next day the showed up on time and did a good job putting the drain back together with PVC, but they did take quite a bit of time, two guys sitting around talking on their cell phones and organizing their truck waiting for parts. After getting the bill I immediately called their office to see who made the mistake. I was met with someone that just stated thats what the bill was, and said that they were charging me for travel and two guys standing around waiting for parts, nothing too exotic that should have been on their truck. Get quotes from smaller organizations that don't have to maintain a fleet of trucks and pay for a staff of 10 to sit in the office.
